Now I just need to figure how I'm going to do this.

It could be something like this, about twice the size of a standard terrain (you won't be able to go anywhere without external tanks)

Or this, it's about 50% larger than a standard terrain, still gonna need tanks, but slightly different in scope.

What do you guys think?

Yeah but it's more realistic and it'll be great once you get the water setup properly for SF2

The first one would be cool, but a lot of work I think!
Japan and Korea all in one map! With a blend of China, perfect for some war! smile

My best regards, Kodiak.

The reason why I haven't voted "Far East" is because that setting (Japan/Russia) doesn't "thrill me" that much so I voted "North Sea".

But if the "Far East" would be set in Taiwan instead, that would defintly get my vote. IMO, I would choose a "Taiwan" scenario over a "Japan/Russia" because of the following:
-> Smaller and at the same time more believable map (in relation to it's size that is) since Taiwan and China are really close as are the bases/main asset from both sides
-> This scenario would allow a powerfull Opfor (China) and interesting Blufor possibilities (Tawain forces, US Navy, US Air Force, etc...)

Yes, if I have to vote between both, I'll also vote on the top one! (only noticed now that it also includes Korea, that certainly would be great!)

You guys do realize if I do the first one, you will have to edit the loadout.ini file of every aircraft you plan on using to include external tanks, right?

Hey, I'm just gonna make the playground. You guys get to pick what toys you want.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if someone or when someone creates a campaign (or a single missions) couldn't he/she use a small part of that big Far East map - like for example creating a Korea Campaign.
If this is possible than an another advantage of such a large map is that someone could create other campaigns using other parts of this same map - like for example a Kuril Islands campaign.

My point is that making campaign/missions like those ones that I mentioned above would certainly eliminate all the problems related to extremelly long ranges such as not enough fuel (at least internal) to carry missions on or missions that take too long (and thus "boring").

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm going to have to make up a 'friendly' Russian nation so I can create a Chinese-Russian conflict.

I'm cool either way. I'll just press Alt-N, anyway. There's simply not enough technical thing to do in SF to keep me from getting bored.

Yes, a Chinese-Russian conflict campaign would also be a great idea for that map thumbsup

PFunk, will you improve the Airports?
I´m a bit tired that the Airports all look nearly the same.
The Airports in Anatolia & Nellis Range Terrain are much nicer.
Would be great if you can improve the airports for far east terrain....

Nice! Looking forward to fly in the far east!

Given the upcoming 'North Atlantic' I like the expanse of water. We'll have a lot of things to do.

Personally I would prefer the large map as most military flight sims make me feel a bit claustrophobic. I'd love to do a long range mission in a B-1.
