I have blue eyes, my preference for eye color has more to do with shape of the eyes and size of the iris, not so much the color.

Beady eyes or buggy eyes that bulge out, or eyes that are too widely spaced are probably less appealing objectively in Western
standards for vanity no matter what the color. However, blue eyes are also a highly esteemed beauty standard, especially because of Hollywood, so I can see what the motivation is.

I'm sure this procedure will be hugely popular in Miami if it gets FDA approval.

No doubt people will go for it. I see a lot of Asian women wearing false colored contacts, the result is very odd looking colored eyes.

However, if more people did it, it may kind of defeat the premise of what people think is unusual or desirable about them. The visible blue color in the pic above doesn't look good to me- the eye looks old or faded or something. If that's what people want, I don't understand it.

This could become very popular in Asia. But will it affect retinal scan?

It will look just stupid and wrong... I remember very often in Brasil, when I visited, doing a double take when I saw "strange-looking" blue-eyed girls... - Contact lenses every time.

Well, they won't look artificial like colored contacts- contacts layer a color on top of another, which when combined will give 'off' results; everyone has blue pigment in their eyes, the difference is that brown eyed people have more darker pigment. With this procedure it just gets rid of the darker pigment cells.

But my preference has more to do with the shape and depth of the eye. Some of the most striking eyes I have seen can be brown, green, hazel or blue- usually large and inviting. I'll say that someone who already has great looking brown eyes will probably have great looking blue eyes afterwards. Likewise, someone who has just dull looking, small brown eyes isn't going to improve much simply by turning them blue.

Where I live, brown is becoming the norm, I get lots of compliments about my eyes from Asians and Indians and occasionally Hispanics every other day it seems, I imagine it looks very different to them. They'll come up to me in public and at bars when they notice them. When I occasionally travel to the UK, the attention to my eyes is gone, it's as common as dirt there. My last girlfriend had large, dark brown beautiful eyes, which I was attracted to more than most of the average looking blue eyed women I've dated. I'm attracted to eyes, but again, less the color. Some eyes just look like there's more soul behind them than others, and even color won't change that.

They already have been doing that, it's been around for ages. Women even used to deliberately consume toxins because it would turn the skin tone more sickly pale. Beauty standards for women were also Rubenesque at one time, since pale, large, lumpy women were signs of an upper class upbringing (i.e., not someone who worked outside for a living and had lean, darker bodies).

However, I think most people's standards are more in the middle- a tan, or just medium complexion look, i.e., Mediterranean, seems to be universally attractive. There are of course deviations into either side of pale or very dark, but generally, you almost can't go wrong with that in broader society.
