I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation to scan and fix registry. What is the best software at a reasonable price or free?

Be very careful when using registry 'cleaner' programs. Only use one if you know EXACTLY what you're doing. I, personally, have never used one - not even one of the so-called better ones - that hasn't screwed my system up.

I normally just go in and clean-up by hand, after uninstalls, but I DO NOT recommend that either!

Yeah, tread lightly. I like ccleaner too. It lets you do a back up beforehand, so take advantage of that. Don't get too aggressive and check out what it wants to clean up.

Do not clean your registry. It's a waste of time and if you do, we will be seeing you here soon asking how to fix it. The cleaners are useless and just give you the feeling you are doing something useful when in actuality you are just scrambling something that can really get very screwed up making your system unbootable.

The cleaners are very good at hosing a perfectly good system though. If you must, go in and manually remove the offending registry entry. If you must ask how, it's better to leave it alone.

At the least, make a good system image before you clean the registry.
