I would like to test my GTX 560ti in a friends PC. However, he is using an AMD card and does not want to uninstall his drivers. The issue I am testing for is a display issue during POST, so I do not think video drivers are necessary.

I am wondering if we can put the 560ti in this PC, boot into safe mode without Windows installing Nvidia drivers. We will then shut down/turn it on a few times to see if the GPU is faulty. Would this work?

What do you have to test?

When i did this before (Stuck my 8800 into my brother's system) which ran a 5830, windows had a fit, in both normal user and safemode.

Seeing if it displays upon POST after turning the PC on without first turning the PSU off.

Thanks for the reply though. I don't have access to a PC with an Nvidia card, but I'll see if he is okay with me testing it in his PC.

Add the new card
Turn on the PC - See if it POSTs
If it does - Start hitting F8 to boot into Safe Mode
When given the selection, DON'T enter Safe Mode, just turn the PC OFF.
