I know we've got some GTR2 fans and I found this tonight surfing around. I've got it installed, but haven't put any laps into it yet.

FIA GT1 2010 Mod v0.9

It's the Hotfile link in the 4th post down...there's another one a few posts down, but everyone seemed to talk about this one. I'm guessing the models are conversions from some other racing title, but NoGrip's usually pretty good about taking illegal conversions down and it was still up since September 2010, so.....all I know is it's got a Ford GT I can drive and that was enough for me to waste bandwidth on. It's got the 6 models from the 2010 season....Aston Martin, Nissan, Corvette, Lambo, Maserati and the aforementioned Ford...nicely done, too I have to say.

The immediate reviews of posters that tried it seemed positive...I was going to try it out some, but it's late, I'm beat and my wheel's not being real cooperative at times these days...but, I have a solution for the latter in-route first of next week.

Which of the two do you think is better? Is the 2011 version just a re-skin of the 2010 one?

I don't know, Steve. I never had the 2010 version. In fact, I haven't spent much time with the 2011. I'll check the release notes and see what it says.

I guess I won't! No release notes. Could very well just be a reskin though.

Looks like it's probably just a re-skin....the Maserati's not in the 2011 version, but the 2011 Ford GT uses one of the Maserati's model parts, looking through the file structure. I watched the 2011 season races I was able to catch on Speed, was always good racing. GTR2's AI has always been a strong point, maybe this will be the case in this mod as well.

Found a rFactor version, but it's an illegal conversion I'm fairly sure...same exact models from the looks of them, same file name structure as the GTR2 one...they even used the FSONE F1 UI and removed all the specific F1 graphics for it. It's also got some sound problems.

Darren, if you get some time next week.....I'll throw up a MP session and we can see how they work if you want. I've got both installed.

The 2011 version is a cleaner install, at least it seems to be...it's missing the Maserati, the 2010 version's got but doesn't have Showroom scene that the 2010 version has that I could really do without.

Cool, i'll try and get the 2011 version installed sometime over the next couple of days and let you know. With everything else going on in sim land recenly, GTR2 has been a bit neglected on my hard drive lately.
