Here's a quick video of my home VR setup using the Sony HMZ-T1, TrackIR, and AeroFly FS.

The AeroFly flight model is definitely pretty average (it fails the tailslide test), but it sure is pretty. The whole headset thing works great with other sims too (Seeing the cockpit in stereo3D in DCS-A10 is incredible).

Very cool!
What kind of resolution do you get with that?

What do you mean by "tailslide test"? That you can't do a tailslide?

The HMD is 1280x720, which is *just* enough for most sims. To get the Stereo3D, the game needs to run at either 1280x720 or 1920x1080 (in which case it's downscaled). The field of view is pretty wide - it ends up feeling about the same size as my 30" monitor at arm's length, so the pixels look a bit giant.

Yeah - it's an old (potentially invalid) test from my Flight Unlimited days - if I couldn't do a tailslide, I wasn't impressed with the physics. I haven't been able to do one in AeroFlyFS - it feels like a much older sim that way (but damn is it pretty).

That's pretty good res. considering it's a HMD...

I had to try tailsliding in Aerofly FS and you may be correct. However, the glider seems to be able to tailslide... Noticed one thing that makes tailsliding in the Extra, and that's the engine torque. When I pull vertical and idle the engine, the aircraft starts to yaw and roll, making a tailslide very difficult. The glider has no torque (duh!) so that made it easier. Have a go at it. Would like to hear your comments about it.

Tailsliding is, at best, hard in this sim. I found it hard to accomplish in real life as well, but not like in the sim. Of course, the Grob 115D I got my aerobatics license in was a...tad less powerful then the Extra..! ;-)

These sort of VR headsets must be the future of gaming. A lot of the reviews are a bit negative, only talking about watching TV and movies. From a gaming perspective combined with head tracking this must be the business.

Deadspace or Dead island with one of these things would probably give me nightmares though.

Nope, though I've never had vertigo from anything.
