They still don't have a bonafide "career" system - medals, promotions, etc. - unless I missed something recently. Even with the FMB and everything else getting fixed, without a career system, CloD is still lacking something

COD is definitely not very good for offliners at this point, especially regarding AI, FM, COMMANDs, etc and career system is another you rightfully added. I can see them improving the career system as it will effect all future theaters including COD. When I look at how much the developer has accomplished so far I am impressed, but its going to take along time to address all the other aspects that aren't working or not implemented yet.

TBH, I believe the BoB campaign was too short for much of a true career system. For the most part, investigation of claims, approval and awards took a long time in the LW, not sure how the RAF was. That with the 3 month span of time we're looking at, didn't leave brass much time in the way of official reviews. I know some people were awarded medals for actions during BoB, but for the most part, they were post-battle. Field promotions did take place, due to replacement of losses, but even they were temporary in nature, until after October. I can't remember ever reading about anyone presented awards while the battle was still going, although I could be wrong (need Ivan or Stern who might know better).

Well certainly different from the LW, where it took months, and sometimes years to get recommended, researched, reviewed, and approved. Just for curiosity, and see how different the RAF did it, what dates were those awards you posted for?

Tuck's Bar was awarded for kills he got in September so it was at least a month after the event.

I imagine the RAF would have wanted citations to be given as soon as possible for moral boosting purposes.

That's not bad, and certainly understandable about the morale purposes, both to the pilots and the population suffering under attacks. Were any field promotions also handed out mid-battle?

I know of one case where a squadron in North Africa had its CO on a transport plane that was lost. As a result, no one got the awards or commendations that had been assigned to them.

However, BoB may have been different (much closer to command) and it is better to give out awards to pilots before they are killed (the award shipment arriving after tends to be bad for morale)?
