Prepar3D is _NOT_ FSX. It's based upon ESP, the simulation platform that MS used to create FSX.

Well, thank you to everyone for this discussion, especially Scoobe, Grale, and Gene Buckle. I've learned a lot and the result is, I'm going to run with the $10 per motnh subscription and give it a try. I've been developing for FSX, so why not develop for the up-to-date Prepar3D instead?

I love this place. I learn a ton. Thanks again!

Cheers!

Wait a minute. Are you saying that I may be able to finally get the carrier to pitch and roll? And I shouldn't have any trouble installing the VRS superbug?

You see, I'm studying the effects of alcohol on carrier approaches and need this simulator to conduct my research.

cheers

What is the impact of this?

EDIT- answered some of my questions:
Do missions not work? ???
ATC? There is enhanced ATC, to train controllers...

Has anyone tried ORBX scenery? Works

Have they fixed the force-feedback? FSForce works, so probably not.

Quite tempted...

Cheers

-- ATC is the same as FSX.
-- Most of the missions are not included from FSX. I think the might work if you copied them over, but I havent tried this.
-- The only ORBX scenery supported at this time is, PNW. Other sceneries will be supported at some point. However, there are ways to copy the scenery over and get it to work, but its a pain. I bought he Side by side license for PNW for $6 and it just points it to FSX and runs the scenery from there. It works well, and its probably the way to go if you want to use ORBX stuff with P3d. But you woul dhave to by the side by side license for each one. UTX, is the only addon I had a hard time getting to work, When I finally did, it caused my ai traffic from working. I would wait until more addon developers support it without having to jump through hoops to get everything working. P3d, will have a lot to offer at some point, but not just yet.
