Hi Guys.

Has anyone updated our horrible Flak 88? If so, where can I find it?

John,
I made a 3ds file of my Flak36 1:35 model while learing CAD so many years ago. EAW is welcome to any of my old 3D files, but they are not for the general public AND I am not avalible to help convert the file format.

Hi Allen.

That would be nice, but converting it to 3dz might be a problem, as I don't have a CAD, or 3DS program, and I'm not sure how that 3DS to 3dz converter works.

I know the 3DZ format inside out, but the newer formats are a challenge. frown

Don't we have an HR Flak 88 model?

John,

There's a pretty good towed artillery piece out there somewhere that might make a good starting point. Can't remember where I got it though.

I used it to make the towed artillery TMOD.

It's funny, I thought there was a HR Flak 88 somewhere, but since I lost my entire EAW archive, I can't find it on Tally-Ho.

I'f there is not one, I'll mod the horrible 88 we have, into something a bit better. wink

John,

FWIW there's a double and quad set of flak guns in my TMOD folder at the gen. light and heavy.

Heck the gun you're looking for might be among those TMODS.

John,

to the best of my knowledge the only artillery mod is the one I made a few years ago, that Ray is referring to... we desperately need better AA gun models so go for it !! smile

cheers,

Hi Pobs.

I've been very lucky recently, in finding loads of card models, which are easy to build into 3dz models. This is my adaptation of this card model:

into 3dz, which is not finished yet.

The reason I asked about the 3dz, was, I did not know if there was a better model around, than the one I did have, and was the one Ray had.

Yep that's the one, Pobs.

I used it to make the towed gun TMODS:

Since the truck and halftrack were R/S compliant and the artillery piece only needed a couple of minor tweaks to be R/S compliant I was able to use the Joiner program to put the two of them together.

I used the same process to make the multiple light and heavy AA batteries:

As well as a better POW camp:

Nearly finished.

This model is close to one battery, which Time Team excavated in 2010 in Jersey.

Looking good Col,

I always had an issue with those blocky sides on the gun itself, they could do with a bit of detailing if at all possible...

cheers,

Hi Pobs.

I've been rebuilding the 88, so it resembles the real thing. I've changed the sides of the 88, but I've still got the breach block to add, and the base legs.

I'm going to add an underground bunker for the gun crew to hide in wink
