Damn that AI never looks over their shoulder! There was an early RoF promo video (wish I still had the link) that showed the air full of 'ping-pong balls' (just for effect) and then they had an aircraft fly through them to show how turbulence was actually modelled.
It was very impressive, and really should be revived as a sales concept (even just a clip within a longer video), because that was what sold me...
They unfortunately took dynamic air like that out of the sim, as far as I remember. But, hey, maybe it is still in the coding as a feature that can be enabled when computers can handle it...
Would be amazing. Especially in dogfighting, where you are buffeted by a plane in front of you.

Thanks Cavu for link to that old promo. I always liked 'KotS' as the sim title...

I'm pretty sure that in single player (at least) that you are buffeted by propwash when crossing behind AI, but AI are not affected. And yes, it could not be accomplished for MP, too much processing power for everyone to experience it.

Yes its in SP (prop wash), wind also has an affect on smoke such as burning fires on the ground but doesn't look to be affected by aircraft slipstream.
It's limited (but better than anything else) at the moment and is limited to our machines and network bandwidth (when you look at the weakest connection for on line play).

I believe that what we see in SP is a canned effect and not actual dynamic air movements. More like "inside cone behind plane enact turbulence" and "tilt smoke columns in direction of wind". Dynamic air movements would show the slipstream effect that Oesau mentions.
