Thanks Beach. I find videos, heck screenshots with it in action to be immersive, can't imagine what it's like to use.

First, I take issue with the title of your thread Piper. To say we need more planes suggests one could attain a state wherein they have enough planes. Never in history has an aviator ever been in this state.

biggrin

Second: Onto the plane pr0n!

From my attempt at this challenge in the "For Good Pilots" campaign at M4T. http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3102

I was surprised that I hit him. The "Enemy Aircraft Destroyed" message is for the plane that just crashed in the lower right of the screenshot. You can see the black smoke it trailed before hitting the water.

I did make it. smile

OK, my attempts for today......

Alphasim EE Lightining and Blackburn Bucaneer, both ported over from FS9 into FSX. No editing (I don't know how...lol) simple Windows colour correction, and modified to JPG format.

Enjoy.

Andrew.

Cool what planes are those?

That last one looks pretty close to the "prototype" but never manufactured RAZBAM Convair 201 here in FSX:

It is the Razbam F/A-201. I was the guy who made it!

The first one is the abortive A/F-X A-12 replacement. Also by me. You can get it at combatace for SF2. I should release the 201 for SF2 as well some day when I can be bothered to do so smile

Haha cool I thought it looked similar! I love your plane, pretty fun, though I am still learning it, congrats on it.

Nice shots!, love the A2A P40 and I'm usually not a warbirds nut but got impatient waiting for their P51-D.

I'll add a couple of more, such a nice plane!

Here's a shot from a multiplayer flight last night. My so-called wingman hit me with a heater while we were flying around randomly at 29k feet, I lost both engines and I had to glide to homeplate. I was one long glide, many many miles, and I almost made it to the runway, but I ran out of energy just before, doh, and had to land on the grass. That was fun. You can see in the shot he's about to shoot in the background.

Thanks! It's funny I never pay attention to the N number in the cockpit in FSX!

Wrecking Crew,

The jet is the MilViz F-15E, for FSX. A joy to fly.

That is FSX Acceleration with only free add-ons:

Scenery is from www.blueskyscenery.com (I have been downloading their stuff a lot lately)
Water is from the FS Water Configurator from www.strikingsoftware.com
Clouds from here: http://sites.google.com/site/aimecreations/freeware-fsx/fsx-clouds-screenshots

Very cool Malibu43, certainly shows how well FSX can look with nothing but freeware, that's awesome.

I took a short little hope from 9S3 Lakeside State airport, which is one of favorites using the ORBX NA Blue scenery, and landed over at KRBG Roseburg Regional. Enjoy!

Run-up with a couple bloke's holding down my tail.

Climbing with the Merlin running hot and steaming real good. Thankfully I filled the Glycol before I left. wink

The town of Roseburg off to my 10 o'clock.

Turning base.

Flaps down.

Probably my favorite screenshot from this flight.

Lined up on final, with a little bit of a crosswind.

Touchdown just off to the left side of the centerline.

Hi All,

Flying into St Maarten and seeing a lot of beautiful scenery. Enjoy

On take off from St Maarten the jet engines cause a sand storm along the beach.

Hi All,

Here is another beautiful plane, unfortunately it is not made for FSX only FS9. It is Aeroworx's Super King Air B200. Enjoy

Flying in Colorado and landed at a small airstrip.

One of the campaigns I have been flying recently is a neat old mini-campaign. ME-109 Over The Jura by Gaston
Imo, it is best to fly it using the None (NN) country now because if you use everything in the download it will overwrite the current speech pack and menu music for the current French (FR) campaigns.

I am flying it using v4.11m and so far everything has worked in the None (NN) folder. Just make sure to change the menu music filename to "nn" from "fr" so it plays when you run the campaign in the NN folder.

I was a little bit surprised when the 2nd group leader flew across my path. Luckily I did not shoot him down.

My wingman is out of frame and just behind me but there was definitely one plane I wasn't expecting in that little piece of sky.

Shortly after those shots I ended up getting tagged by the rear gunner on the left bomber too. taz

Heheh sounds like fun, I really have to work on getting IL2 to run in Windows7 again, tried reinstalling a while back but it always exists after the CD check and splashpage even after I did that Securom update thing...

Oh well, for now some more airplane shots:

1. Ant's Eaglet takeoff from Dillingham field to Wheeler field in MegaSceneryX Oahu, REX2, FSGen mesh
2. Carenado 337 on the road to Hana in Maui VFR X, REX2, FSGen mesh

Cool shots kludger. smile

The digital download version of IL-2 1946 at GoG seems to work just fine with Win7. smile
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 at GoG: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/il_2_sturmovik_1946
This version does not have any DRM to mess it up.

GOG "About Us" page: http://www.gog.com/en/about
Quote:
3. You buy it, you keep it.

Don't let your DRMs turn into nightmares (clever, no?). You won't find any intrusive copy protection in our games; we hate draconian DRM schemes just as much as you do, so at GOG.com you don't just buy the game, you actually own it. Once you download a game, you can install it on any PC and re-download it whenever you want, as many times as you need, and you can play it without an internet connection.

Ah thanks good reminder of the GOG version, if I can't solve the problem with my disk version that will definitely be the route to go.

Flying around in the excellent A2A P-40 Warhawk in FSX has rekindled my interest in IL-2 so I can shoot stuff with it.

UPDATE:
I figured out my problem, when I did the last IL2-1946 patch dance I missed the 4.08 patch, I just did a fresh install and patch dance and things are working, woohoo! hope to get some IL2 battle screenies soon.

Edited by kludger (03/23/12 01:17 PM)
Edit Reason: fixed my IL2 prob

Heheh sounds like fun, I really have to work on getting IL2 to run in Windows7 again, tried reinstalling a while back but it always exists after the CD check and splashpage even after I did that Securom update thing...

Oh well, for now some more airplane shots:

1. Ant's Eaglet takeoff from Dillingham field to Wheeler field in MegaSceneryX Oahu, REX2, FSGen mesh
2. Carenado 337 on the road to Hana in Maui VFR X, REX2, FSGen mesh

Great looking shots Kludger!

A little OT, and I don't know what it's worth to you, but gog.com has IL2: 1946 for $10, and it works on Windows 7 and I'm pretty sure doesn't have Securom or any other invasive copy protection.

That's correct. I bought IL-2: 1946 at BestBuy for $10 a couple of years ago and I was thrilled it worked with no issues at all on Win7. I don't even need the disc in the drive to run it.

Thanks, indeed. I have never flown heavy metal, except Boeing 377, C-130 and now this vintage 737. I'm finally considering 737 NGX. I guess I've grown up enough to fly a liner with FMC. skyisfalling

This Foxbat had already taken one of my AIM-9s, and a Sparrow from a wingman, but refused to go down despite the damage and loss of his right engine, so I said 'screw it, I'll just gun him to death'...

...But as he pulled his turn tighter to throw off my aim, he went into a spin and crashed.

I'm loving the ODS mod.

I blamed it on the Old Fokkers and their Monday Evening Bush Flights. This shot from a recent Monday evening's fun found me trying to land on a postage stamp on a mountain top. With plenty of coaching from folks like Griphos, Bostom and AussiePilot, I made it onto one of the target perches...
