Was trying out some new settings with ROF and ive started getting these white lines along the wires and i dont remember them being there before, but now i cant get rid of them! ive tried most things but no luck.
Has anyone got a clue what is causing them and how to get rid of them?

ROF settings- all max

Nvidia 580

also using nvidia inspector to get rid of the hazy horizon.

Thanks in advance chaps.

Some people call them "crawling ants". I've always had them, but only under certain lighting direction and more on some aircraft (Albatros' & SE5a seem to be worst offenders for me). Are you sure you're only noticing them now? Have you changed your regular mount?

Try reverting to previous settings perhaps? Tweaking an already good picture can sometimes bit you in the @ss... If you are applying AA both in game and in nVidia inspector, just leave the in game AA on. Card managers apply their AA after the game puts the picture together and can cause slight performance issues depending on system, or so I've heard.

Let us know if you solve crawling ants, I'd like to kill them too!

And BTW, what's wrong with a little haze on the horizon anyways? It's what I always see when in the RL air (although perhaps not historically accurate since it is mostly smog nowadays...).

I think it's HDR that does that, but I can't check right now to confirm.

Agree with Bandy. I have always seen it on the Se5 that I fly a lot. They only show up under specific conditions like viewing angle and lighting type. This is on an AMD 5870 card.

Still getting it with HDR at all settings and other planes.
This is bugging me now, can anyone let me know if they are NOT getting it?

It could be because the wires in RoF have light properties, meaning that light source is rendered on the wires. Since the wires are so thin, half the pixels are reflecting light while the other half are dark which could cause this. The "fix" would be to make the wires about as big as the struts or remove lighting altogether on the wires so they are a matte black.

I'd seriously go for that, but then I suppose the wires would not cast shadows. Damned if you do, damned if you don't... duh

I can live with the "crawling ants" effect if it causes issue with the shadows. I love the dynamic shadows in ROF.
