New space combat sim like Freespace but using the UE3 engine. Very nice it is too and only £6.99 ($9.99). Space dogfights round asteroids are great fun. The gattling cannon sounds like BSG and the launch is very BSG-like which is great.

You can't see it in game, but here is a upgrade screen where you can see it.

Now do you buy OTHER ships or is it just a matter of upgrading that ship and protecting the bigger ship?

I'm hoping GOG get hold of that but I doubt it seeing as it was a Microsoft Studios Game.

How are the controls? Are there proper HOTAS control options, such as Throttle, Rudder (roll) and ministick (strafe), or is it really just m/kb and simplified joystick?

That looks pretty sweet, it's about time we had a new space fighter game, I used to love all of these sort from wing commander and elite to all the way to free lancer and iwar, I wish gog would bring out free lancer and star lancer because they where great games but mind you I wish lucasarts would make a modern x-wing or tie fighter game.

My throttle on my WH or rudder pedals aren't recognised but then I didn't expect them to be, it's a space combat shooter not a sim. You really don't need to modulate your speed as you should always be using the 'match enemy speed' control anyway and I have that set on my stick along with full speed and afterburner and works just fine. I use roll as Q and E on the keyboard but rarely use it.

Works fine for me but you cannot expect it operate like a sim.

FS2 wasn't a sim either but the game always supported multiple input devices on multiple axis. I'll pass 'til they add support for multiple axis controls and cockpits, which they claim to be doin'.
