Does anyone use this software to play Blurays on their computer?
I get no sound when I use it, despite getting sound with PowerDVD10 and with every other application in Windows.
TMT5 offers very few audio options, and I have toggled between those that it does offer.

I am using onboard RealTek High Definition Audio on my mobo (RealTek Digital Output Optical). I use a Coaxial SPDIF cable to connect to Logitech speakers.

I do get audio when using PowerDVD10, but this player leaves a few things to be desired.

Hi, if you are using Blu ray are you trying to use the new lossless formats? DTS HD, Dolby HD??

if so is your Sound card capable of passing those codecs? If you are passing through your optical cable these formats will NOT work.. hen you start up the movie goto the options menu and choose a non lossless format see if it plays audio then??

I will look at the TMS5 and see if it has HD Audio passthrough but probally not through and Definetely through an Optical cable..

EDIT: Found this in the FAQ:

No sound when playing BD using SPDIF with Total Media Theater?
Go to Setup>Settings>Sound tab and make sure that ‘Enable Sound Mixer’is checked.

now it will probally not be playing the lossless codecs but the lossy ones. if the sound quality is fine the way it is no need to worry..

I 've had issues before with some programs defaulting SPDIF to a Higher or lower KHz other than what my receiver can handle, when that happens it reverts to sleep mode.

i had to manually chang th pgram to output to 96Khz,

also my brother had an issue where the Audio was set to pass through the HDMI of his GFX Card on some programs instead of his SPDIF.

Yeah, those instructions don't apply to TMT5...I don't see Enable Sound Mixer option anywhere in settings.

Yes, my system's Realtek is capable of playing DTS audio format. I am using an optical SPDIF cable, and am able to hear audio fine when I play the DTS audio version of a BluRay when using PowerDVD.

Can you explain why an optical SPDIF cable cannot play DTS, if I understand you correctly?

WEll it did state it was for TMT Perhaps and older version of TMT had that setting??

Hi, Yes it can Play DTS Probaly just fine that is a LOSSY Format.. I am talking about the DTS HD Format which is Lossless.. they are 2 different formats.. it is like the High Definition for Audio.. sort of comparing a 480 Low Def Video signal to a 1080P Hi Def one.

These new formats are NOT Playable on all devices.. Most time if using a REciever the Reciever would decode it.. but some Blu ray players also can decode the new HD Formats..but since you are using your PC I would doubt these formats will play and most times you need to go into the Movies menu and select the lossy formats like DTS or Dolby Digital..

Is he TMT 5 a HD Audio decoder?? IF not that is proally why you have no sound..

Since there are few audio options, I assume you may have already tried this, but it seems you have to force the application to use SPDIF output on the settings:

S/PDIF is known as Sony Philips Digital Interface. This mode is used to connect the output of a DVD player to a home theater that supports Dolby Digital or DTS Surround sound.
How do I change the settings to S/PDIF?
1.Click on Setup(Control + S) in the main screen.

2.Click on the Audio Tab

3.Under the Audio output dropdown highlight S/PDIF
.

Yeah, SPDIF is the default selection in the dropdown, so it is selected.

@Nephilim- both bluray discs are DTS, not DTS HD

Hi, what titles are they.. it has to have a HD Track. it can be either Dolby Digital HD or DTS HD, along with just a regular DD or DTS Track included for backwards compatibility..

But most Blurays default to the HD Tracks.. and you must go into the movies menu to select any other track..

Firefly and Serenity- the track is DTS I think, not DTS HD

If TMT5 cannot play DTS audio, then it's a no go for me

OK I have Serenity on Blu Ray.. is that what you have the Blu ray version?? I just looked and the Blu Ray version has the following Audio Format:

1. English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1..... it has a few other countries listed for DTS 5.1 but NO English DTS 5.1..

DTS HD and DTS Are 2 different codecs..it does NOT have an English DTS track. but it does have a DTS HD track..

Now the thing is does the TMT 5 decode these codecs the HD ones?? I will check the website just wondering if you know??

Also it does have a DD 2.0 Track but you will have to go into the movie and Select it in the Menu.. Try the 2.0 Track and see if you get sound in the movie on TMT 5..

i think to use DTS-HD with TMT5 you need a sound card/GPU w/ Bit-streaming Capabilities. and the appropriate plugin.

Well there may be a PCM track in there as well but as you stated the sound card/vid card would need to do BitStreaming.. I dont think they make a plugin for DTS-HD??
