I think you have to download them all and install in order if I remember correctly. Go here and see what version you already have with the retail copy.

If you downloaded the game from the DCS site recently you should have the latest version ready to go. If you bought a boxed version try seeing if it tells you what version you have when you start the game. I'm pretty sure it displays the version number but I can't remember the specifics.

1.1.1.1 is current. I installed the patch for it over 1.1.1.0 and it is working fine.

I would usually install the full version instead of the patch, but I'd started the download from the patch link and was well into the hours of d/l time when I realized that so I just went with it.

I think the 1.1.1.1 patch is in two files. The full versions are typically four files.

Do not download any patch. Get the 1.1.1.1 full version installer. Even if you got your game from Steam, the key will work with the ED-downloaded game.

Go to the link above (DCS site) and look at page 2 on the patches section and you should find he earliest patch to start downloading and then next few patches. Use the torrent links at the bottom of each page as they will be faster.

Or save yourself the grief and download the latest full version from the DCS site and use the key that came with your boxed version.

You don't need to install all the patches over each other. Just go get the 1.1.1.1 patch from the ED site and install it. I got some multiplay weirdness when I installed 1.1.1.1 over 1.1.1.0. No telling what else it did. Welcome aboard.

Out of curiosity, what's ED's roadmap going ahead? Are they planning any more patches for A-10 or are they onto the next new thing?

That's the patch files, you should have an Application file there too that you run the update from.

Not sure how you do this though as I have the digital version I bought through ED during the Beta. Have you tried downloading the full up-to-date sim from ED and using your serial in your retail box?

Put all 4 files in the same place (downloads folder for example) double click the .exe to run it. Follow the menus and install the patch. That's all there is to it.

But as others have said, if you have a disc version, your best bet would be to download the full 1.1.1.1 installation files for the ED website and do a fresh install (unless you've got a really slow internet connection and can't leave the PC on overnight).

No, no, no, no.

What you downloaded there is the FULL INSTALL of the 1.1.1.1 version. There is NO NEED to install your game from Amazon, put your install disc away. All FOUR FILES should be in one folder, the name or location of the folder does not matter, so long as all FOUR FILES are in there. You should have:

A-10C_full_en_1.1.1.1.exe
A-10C_full_en_1.1.1.1-1.bin
A-10C_full_en_1.1.1.1-2.bin
A-10C_full_en_1.1.1.1-3.bin

Again, this is the FULL INSTALL of the game. So go ahead and double-click that .exe file and install the game wherever you like. Your game should then be up-and-running and you will be using the latest version of DCS A10C.

If, by any chance, any one of your downloads above is corrupted, download the .torrent file from the DCS website and point it to the folder where your four files are. The torrent will now check each file and will download the missing bits. This will save you from having to download the file(s) again.

I guess you went through new drivers installs when you has probs with BF3? Must be something acting up with your PC if it's happening again.

'After a while of flying' meaning been flying for a long time.

Never had or heard of crashes with DCS A-10C though. No error messages?

Quite a few things can cause the game to shut down mid-game, Pete. Like in one thread I have on, a GBU-10 impacting the target causes a CTD. Or in multiplayer, sometimes a corrupt mission or some trigger errors can cause the game to crash for all participants. Or sometimes you're just not lucky and you CTD while the others continue on their way with no problems at all. And so on and so forth.

However, like I told you the last time, whenever the game asks if you want to repair/reinstall/install stuff like DirectX or C++ or whatever, just say yes. If you already got it installed, it's fine and the game won't install anything. But if you are missing an obscure file or two, at least the install procedure can find it and install it for you. Less problems that way.
