As it constantly and repeatedly keeps beeping and unbeeping the way it does when you plug in a usb device without stopping. I'm about to go nuts. I turned my speaker volume off which helps but it also keeps popping the message up as well. I think I'll loose it soon.

This first happend about a week ago. I feared I may have gotten a virus but I did a full scan using Microsoft security Essesntials and it did not find anything. After a restart also it stopped.

After about four days of having the pc off, its started again. No matter what I do I can't turn it off. I try updating the driver, uninstalling it and disabling it but nothing works.

Thing is, I don't even know what device its talking about. The only USB devices I have hooked up are a mouse, keyboard and an external hardrive and they are all working.

Please help!!! dizzy

Have you run a scan by malwarebytes?

Try to open up:
Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager

Hopefully when the device is being added/removed you will see something pop up in there with the yellow exclamation mark.

Otherwise when it is happening I would unplug all your USB devices one by one until it stops.

PS. I had this happen before with a USB hub that had too many things plugged into it for the power it could supply.

That.
Even if those devices seem to be working correctly, that might not really be the case.

Okay I unplugged my Western Digitial external hardrive and it stopped. How do I update its driver? Reason I asked is because when I tried to do it through pop up menu, it says latest driver is installed.

its prolly not the driver, if something is "on/off" ing windows wont be able to link and get the hardware info from the USB controller in the device. So it continues to pop up every time the device powers on and then off before the system can see what kind of device it is.

If the drive works fine, and there are no NTFS/HDD errors in the event viewer, then its not the HDD windows is barking about.

Its possible the power draw from the USB Drive is knocking out the power to one of the other ports.

( i have this issue when i plug in drives to my front panel ports, the power draw either knocks out whatever else is on the front panel ports, or everything.)

FWIW I've had this happen because the USB cable was faulty. Either a break or something else. Replacing the cable fixed it.

external hard drives tend to suck a lot more juice than other devices. I'd spend $15 or so on a externally powered USB hub. You should be using one anyway.
