I keep reading on IL-2 threads and in game itself (FMB) this word without being able to decipher its meaning.

By Google translator I get "to lay down eggs". I wonder why in IL-2 aircrafts keep "spawning" and "respawning" here and there.

Anybody would be so kind to satisfy my curiosity?

Thanks,
GB

With the assumption you never joined a MP game or a dogfight server...

In IL2 "to spawn" translates to clicking "fly" in MP game on a dogfight server. This will "spawn" your plane on one of the predefined "spawn positions" on the selected airfield on the map.

Depending on the mission builder and the map itself, you can spawn in the air if the "spawn point" is defined like that.

Now in 4.11, static planes can be used as "spawn positions" i.e. a static plane will become live when you click fly and a human pilot will take control of it.

In fact it is so. Thanks for explanation.

It looks really nice!

In v4.11 they have added the ability to see the spawn locations in the FMB so now you can see where they are and avoid putting any objects in their way.

This should be great too, I guess, to avoid crashing on mission start. Lately I got one in French Wings Ultimate: couldn't understand what was the cause, but got luckily it fixed only raising by ten metres my flight's altitude on runway by FMB. I expected a new crash of the four planes on runway (which looked to be at zero metre), instead we found ourselves nicely "spawned" (just like eggs and without broking any, lol) on runway, ready for take-off! smile

Cheers,
GB
