Hello fellow simmers. I wanted to submit a challenge to all you Mr. Wizards out there that have the expertise and creativity to make these awesome simpits. I would like to see some designs for TANK GUNNER controls. This controller would work like the old Star Wars Arcade games of the 80's. It is basically a steering column with handles that swivel forward and backward. You would steer left and right to rotate the turret and swivel back and forth to raise or lower the gun. It would have buttons to for tank functions such as ranging, reloading, changing ammo types, firring, smoke, clearing debris from sights, and different optical settings. It would be neat if it could double to steer the tank as well (it would steer as normal and forward swivel would be gas, button functions could change). This could be done with a flip switch that acts kind of like a pinkie switch on our flight sticks.

Well I was just showing that as a gag as you mentioned Star Wars and this will work with a mame emulator ad Star wars the arcade game.. but could probally be used for a Tank Sim Pit..

I also seen a controller used by the military for the gunner similar to the star wars controller. I was looking for that and found this so I thought I would share..

I thinkthe Guys that made steel beasts made the controller as well..

here is my sim pit with a update on the HOTAS I know have a Cougar HOTAS..

Fun fact. The Star Wars Yoke was actually designed for the military first to train tank crews (I beleive for the bradly but I am not sure), Don't you guys think it is time the tankers got some love. I mean they have custom controllers for trains and ships..... I know we have alot of talant in this forum. Lets put it togethor and get something going for these guys. Try to keep it sub 200 dollars if possible.

I found this old game-port yoke at my local Value Village 2nd hand shop for $5.

I bought a BU0386 for it and have almost finished wiring it.

but real life got in the way and it's been sitting on the shelf for about 4 months.

I imagine that it would be possible to saw off the two yoke handles, place a tube in the middle, attach shafts with pots onto the handles to insert into the tube and VOILA...
