Hey folks,

I was curious as to how you all handle toggle and rotary switches in your pits. I imagine the computer would read this as a constant button press when on. So how do you deal with that? Is it software, or do you rig the electronics in a way that makes it act like a momentary switch or single press?

You can use a software solution like SVMapper (Xpadder too I believe) to send a single button press for toggles or you could use a USB controller that will do it like the Desktop Aviator single pulse boards:

I reckon the hardware solution is easier because the Desktop Aviator will deliver a DirectX button press you can assign rather than the keystrokes.

Many hardware solutions have a software that allow you to designate a buttons as: press once, always on, press and hold for Xsecs, etc.....

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't seen that board before. It looks like it can do quite a bit.

I wonder how difficult adapting an arduino would be.

Myself, I like the simplicity of Hagstrom controllers. Here

- They (without the need for other software programs) handle all type of switches.
- They load their configuration files into memory, so there are no lost CPU cycles running any extra software apps.
- They are easy to wire with common ground daisy-chaining and pre-made screw terminal interfaces.
- Their programming syntax is instantly learnable and understandable.

And they are quite willing to to do custom work.
(I had a KEAD6's functions and programming app customized, for my application in a dual throttle quad.)

I wish I got a kickback, for being their cheerleader. rolleyes
But I can honestly say that of all the controllers I have ever used, Hagstrom are the most rock solid and trouble free.....unfortunately, they are also among the most costly.
