DCS F-5 Tiger II might be cool. But if we are going back I'd rather an DCS A-7, A-4 I think. Just hankering for some carrier ops.

This thread is going in circles.

ED doesn't choose DCS aircraft based on the consumer market. We're basically getting the microwaved left-overs from a government sponsored banquet. Beggers can't be choosers though. smile

What we know:

-It will be a "USA fixed wing aircraft"

-The project will be an outgrowth of a current defense contract, most likely similar to the A-10C transitional desktop trainer.

That said, I did some googling:

The Fighter Collection is one of two interested parties in an ANG JTAC training station contract^

-Their partners in developing the A-10C DTS, Total Immersion, currently have a product on their site called "Prime DTS" a UAV simulator for the USAF: http://www.totimm.com/

more googling to come, but that's a start if other people want to join the hunt.

Other considerations: Look at US Aircraft export activity, there's a lot of F-16 and F-18 activity. Only issue is both have a lot of classified systems on board, but they may go the VRS route and "guess" at it. At this point, I wouldn't rule out a UAV sim either folks. It does fit the profile, as it would fit into the JTAC environment.

Still, my money is on F-15e, as there's been a lot of sim activity from Boeing recently, and ED might have had some sub contract deals in the works.

All the speculation in this thread is just that: speculation. Only ED (and a close group of trusted individuals who wouldn't spill the beans for anything) know what's really next. I see some educated guesses, some hopes, and some wild guesses, but I'm surprised to see speculation about new terrain with the new aircraft! Will we see carrier groups based in the Yellow Sea with DCS: F/A-18C? Desert bases near Irag/Iran with DCS: F-15E? Vietnam with DCS: A-4?

What do you think?

I would like to see a persian gulf map if ED goes with The F-18 or F-15. Both jets go excellent with that area. It is possible to expand the current map too. Add the other side of the sea. I dont think ED would go with a Vietnam map but anything is possible. One thing I am hoping for regaurdless of whatever the next plane is would be a new area to destroy!!!

The Nevada terrain is being finished up for A-10. I don't think we'll see another new terrain anytime soon.

So the next DCS aircraft must make maximum use of Nevada...which I think means USAF?

And I think its time for a trainer-sim with a full in-depth focus on learning to fly the mission (like Captain Sim's old Combat Pilot) rather than endless button-pushing.
Nellis would be ideal for that, all the way up to Red Flag.
And just to make some sales, add an Independance Day scenario. :^)
Sorted.
Cheers

Not entirely true. The Navy and Marines all fly out of there for Red Flag. Plus the Navy has a Weapons school in Nevada Fallon I do believe. So we could basicly use and USA jet with nevada. Know that I think of it any world het could use Nevada as well. I hope ED dosent go trainer I think Fighter ops is doing that or was doing that or wil be doing that or whatever Fighter ops is doing.........

Everybody goes to Red Flag...the RAF Buccaneers did very well there as I remember. Would love a Buccaneer sim but that's not going to happen.
But only USAF uses Nellis AFB for normal training. Is Fallon within the current terrain?
Thinks...where did the 'customer' F4 pilots get trained - that could have been Nellis? Even better - Starfighter!
Still, I'm sure you're safe, the next ED sim will be maximum button-pushing and blowing stuff up from a distance.
Cheers
Keith
