Wow cool.
I guess this was the mythical P-51D flight that got swallowed up in the Bermuda Triangle and next thing they know they are in the Black Sea fighting modern Eastern Block jets.

Dont worry the Wright Flyer will be out after the Hughes H-4 Still at least we finally got something to deal with those Pesky Su-25s!

+1. The FW190d9 would be a great opponent for the p-51 to face The simplicity of WW2 aircraft compared to the A-10 and other modern fighters shouldn't make it too difficult Perhaps, this would be another outlet for DCS to make some cash? With the questionable release of Cliffs of Dover, I would invest my money into purchasing another DCS product if there was a WWII flavor to it. HB

there's my own flightsims rule I described once as "one era" rule -you can make decent WW1 or Korea from WW2 title, plausible Korea or Gen.3 fighters from early jets, but you can't jump from 2000 to 1940's using the same engine without major rewrite of basically everything. That's the idea put in short words. Just my 2 cents

Stary And yet.... they've pulled it off with the merging of A-10 and Black Shark 2.... I imagine additional aircraft will follow the same development model. Oh, I'd like to take this opportunity lobby for a P-47, Fw-190.... and the full BoB "stable" of aircraft + Channel Map, if its not too much trouble Best wishes.

IMHO, the A-4 Skyhawk or A-7 Corsair II would have been a better choice. I know there was some talk about a COIN P-51 "Enforcer" a few years back I believe, but a P-51 vs. a ZSU-23? Really? LMAO I demand the P-40 or F-4U Corsair then! ;-)

This could be the start of something very, very good. I'd also note that this news from DSC seems to have spurred the Cliffs of Dover crowd into action and they are promising to post pics this friday of the new game they are building. Competition is good.

When there's a a box of B17's (and I don't mean just 6) a proper map, opponents, WWII environment to fly it in, I'll get excited. Until then...

yeah because only things missed in DCS are Mustang and Wright Flyer but SRSLY I still don't get it Cmon people - what a stupid reaction! It is said one million times but nobody does listen: It was an internal tech demo. And cuz the results were great it is developed by "The Fighter Collection" to a full product by a different team. It does NOT influence the progess of the upcoming fixed wing US JET fighter. It does not compare to anything we have seen before. IL-2 flight dynamics will be revlealed as ridiculous arcadish #%&*$#. (Didnt ever tried A2A but perhaps A2A is the ONLY thing you can compare besides the real ones) Look forward to it. it will be awesome.

Looks amazing, but I'm with the majority here in that the P-51 is a bit out of place in the current DCS environment. Are there plans to release other aircraft from the same era? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless a future WWII add-on is in the works.

Ditto what Cozy4 said. Why is this a problem for people. I can't wait for it. Having visited Duxford and seeing their collection of real warbirds I hope that they have great success with this experiment and expand on it.

Nice to see they have working HVARs and bombs. FFARs and Mk82s wouldn't have been appropriate.

In IL2 we had WWII opposition and maps, and the "flight dynamics" as you put it were fantastic for the time. When there are B17's to escort and map to escort them over (or a Belgium map to fly CAS over) 109's, 190's to shoot at along with Panzers on the ground - Or alternatively a Korean theater, THEN I'll get excited. Until then I'm not sure what this will offer us over the Accusim Mustang that's already out. I remain hopeful, but been around long enough to know better about holding one's breath. For now, I'm firmly ensconced in the "what?" category.

Other than for a quick boost of capital I don't see the point of a Mustang in DCS which is in a modern setting. I don't want to move mud in a Pony and there isn't anything with swastikas to shoot down either. If I want to fly a realistic P-51 I have FSX for sterile and Il2 UP3*(needs work) for combat.
To say this has no impact on the dev of other airframes is short sighted. DCS like every software dev group, lags behind projections and the more "things" that have to be integrated into the code = more bugs to fix.
I feel like DCS is going in too many lame directions at once instead of building on what is already good, like expanding to new theaters or making the existing stale map more interesting and perhaps somewhat dynamic. DCS is like FSX, just bunch of random cool stuff that doesn't really fit together in a cohesive way.

I have not found any plane for FSX that has a realistic flight and "ground handling" model. Also the "feel" of flight is nothing like in DCS A-10 or in real life. I have tried everything from Acceleration pack to A2A addons.
IL-2 is ok for the combat stuff but the sim engine is starting to be a bit outdated. I'll be happy to take any WW2 bird that is made with the same realism as other DCS products!
