I read about this a long time ago, so it might not apply (or memory may be failing...which is most probable), but if I remember correctly:
Copy BIOS image file (from ASUS) to USB flash drive root.
Connect to PC.
Boot PC.
Pray.

Found the article from ASUS http://support.asus.com/Search/KDetail.aspx?SLanguage=en&no=1722&t=1(yes, I was right) To recover the BIOS from a USB flash disk. a.) Insert a USB flash disk that contains the BIOS file to the USB port. b.) Turn on the system. c.) The utility will automatically checks the devices for the BIOS file. When found, the utility reads the BIOS file and starts to flash the corrupted BIOS file. d.) Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process. ( Note : DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing so can cause system boot failure! ) ( Note : The recovered BIOS may not be the latest BIOS version for this motherboard. Visit the ASUS website www.asus.com to download the latest BIOS file. )

it is an Asus P8Z68-V Pro.. 5-Beeps indicates CPU according to Asus: 1.4.2.3 CPU issue: Beep (5 short) A. Check whether the CPU is in our CPU support list B. Check whether there are any damagers of your CPU or CPU socket. C. .Check whether the CPU fan is correctly connected D. Check whether the ATX_12V power cable is connected well E. If possible try to test with another CPU

well according to the lights on the mobo that indicate which component is malfunctioning the memory light is the only one that comes on and stays lit..
But since I did a BIOS UPgrade and screwed that up I doubt it is any of the components unless when I restarted the PC it fried something..
I have NO Other PC to test these components on so I am not sure what to do about that..I also puled the CPU that looked fine and reseated it.. I aslso pulled the memory and that looked ok..I didnt here or smell any smoke so I dont think it is the CPU , memory or vid card..
I also am getting 5 beeps followed by 4 more but aa a different tone..I am going to look that up but welcome any ideas on how to get the BIOS restored??

try booting with 1 ram stick in the slot farthest from the CPU.

try booting with 1 ram stick in the slot farthest from the CPU. just tried it nothing happened but not beeping either?? WEll I tried everything and then some. I will leave it to the ASUS Techs and hopefully they can repair this mobo. If it is unrecoverable I hope they will at least replace it with a working mobo hopefully the same one.. EDIT: I would like to know what BIOS Company ASUS uses for the P8Z68-V PRo board?? I do Beleive the Post Beep are as follows: 4 - 1- 3.. Well I found out why support did not answer their phones and chat yesterday.. they had a tornado and was down the entire day..today thy posted that info and new number to call..

I've had two failed BIOS Updates in my history of PCs (~20 Years) (yeah Im only 27/28).
1 failed as a result of a power outtage A Long time ago, the other the iso was messed up (3 years ago).
the one from a while back was a simple fix, order the BIOS Chip from Company, pull the old one out, pop the new one in the socket. (gotta love them Award 486DX2 BIOS's)
the other i applied for an RMA, and it was declined as they clearly stated in the manual and on the website that flashing the bios was not covered under warranty.
So, I had to re-instate the bios manually using another PC, A 16 Pin Socket -> USB board that I had to build from Radio Shack parts and a Kit I had already($3 Max, $1.99 for the socket in 2009), put the ship on the socket, windows saw it as a 8 MB (removable storage), used a USB Flash Write program to write the BIN file to the ROM, unplug USB from other system, pull the chip off the socket, place back on mainboard, boot reset the CMOS to wipe the configuration errors, and re-flash to get a Valid flash crc stamp. (to remove the Invalid BIOS error).
Sending it back would have been easier, but the company was being a bunch of bummers, in the end it saved me $$ as I didnt have to pay for shipping.
