Jel,
do you know if the Wiki link is current for 1.28e?
http://eaw.wikispaces.com/All+updates++are+there

Right now, we could use a more complete download.
(A complete 1.28e with savedata folder included.)
(ETO_01 with Planes and Sounds folders. The latest. These are large,
so only the latest links are necessary.....I just dont know if the links in
your sig are current for the latest planes folder. The link for the latest sounds
folder is: http://www.sandbagger.uk.com/EAWSSS/sounds/EAW1-28E_Engine_Sounds_by_AngleOff.rar
(The latest OAW with the DirSetPicker.)
Maybe a 'sticky' with just the download name and the link.

AO

Hi AO.

It's OK if you want to mod 1.2, but there is very little on how to mod the 1.28e series.

I've been banging on about this for a while now, but there seems to be little interest in documentation.

Your best bet is to scan this forum, or the GEN. wink

Hi,
what I would like to do is conglomerate some of this stuff to make it easier
to install without having to explain what some of the other downloads are for.
(Savedata folder should come with the 1.28e installer. ETO_01 should come with
the Planes folder since they work together, however, it's not tuff to explain
that ETO_01, Planes, and Sounds folders work together, but can be downloaded separately.
Jel made a new OAW that comes with a DirSetPicker, so no need for the separate downloads.
And the ETO_01 download creates an unnecessary OAW128/C ETO_01 folder, when the entire
Dirset folder should just be included with that latest OAW.)

So not much explaining would need to be done other than running an add-on installer in
your EAW root. A couple of other things would need fixing to. DAW for instance. I made
a soundset for DAW. What I did was put a 'sounds' folder in my DAW128e folder, then edited
my DAW dirset file to look in the DAW128e folder for the sounds, instead of loading them all
into my EAW root folder with OAW. SPAW and SAW came with cdf's so was easier to just drop in
a new sound16.cdf.
Anyway, we just need to simplify this stuff a little. Would be cool to have a 1.28e readme
'sticky' that could get updated regularly for the exe fixes...
And all this downloadable stuff should all be placed on a page at Sandbaggers maybe?
Right now we have things at different download places......
What do you guys think?

Sorry to jump in here, but to make AO's point....

Do i need to download OAW? I have the dirpicker and the ETO_1 files. I also have SPAW and DAW. They all show in the picker but if I download the latest OAW would i be able to select certain terains/music/planesets etc like before? I still have alot of those on a CD i burned for when i could play again.....

Cass,
for most of your other mods, yes, download the latest OAW here: (Scroll down.)
http://eaw.wikispaces.com/All+updates++are+there

You will be able to load/unload those files as before. However, I would only
use those files with the default EAW loaded. (No dirset file loaded.) But I DO use
certain ones with any scenario loaded. (I use a stall alarm sound file which I load with OAW.
Or some gun sounds. Sometimes different skies, different gunsights, etc.)
Of course, skin files go into the OAW128/skinfolder. But unlike before, where the skins had
to go in slot-numbered folders, the skin folders can be named whatever you choose.

Your ETO_01 folder works in conjunction with a Planes folder. If you have not downloaded it yet,
you can get it here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1962775471/EAW1.28e_Fix10_Planes.rar

Just unzip and place the planes folder in your EAW root folder. And you also need the
Sounds folder which you can get here:
http://www.sandbagger.uk.com/EAWSSS/sounds.html

When you load ETO_01 with the dirsetpicker and launch the game, when you go into the
'configure-game' you will see that you have the option to play default EAW, or load
different planesets.
Anyway, I would play around with this (ETO_01) before messing with old mods from your
old OAW. Eventually, you will get a chance to explore the folders and understand how
they work. (Then I'll send you a multiskin set of the 352nd. 16 different skins in the
one squad. I've got almost everybody in there, thanks to Jack Sprat!)

Ok, i dl'ed knegels latest exe and the planes from update 10 and replaced my original planes set.(yes i renamed the exe and the planes folder). I have the lateset OAW installed.

How it used to work was that you put in a skin and ALL aircraft of that type where that skin, so how do i load the skins in order to make every mustang different? Im real excited about that little feature smile

Okay, i installed OAW, a bit different but i see the skins folder is different. So the file you gave me was named "S-Cass" but according to the OAW skins folder i should rename the folder to 'A-05-P51D(Cass)' Correct?

So now how do i specify a different skin for my wingnut?

thx AO sorry, but half the fun for me is getting allthis stuff strait again.

1. Start OAW for 1.28.
2. Click on 1.28E plane sets.
3. Click on slot 05.
4. Select P51D_01.

Now you have the first P51D multi-skin set.

These Multi-skin sets are available for most all of the base planes found in EAW and are kncluded in the Planes 10 set. To add newer units just download them from Talley-Ho. If they are mine, the are named for the slot they are put in. MS05 would be P51D_03 (when it is added) 01 and 02 aew already filled.

All ist klar?

Cass,
doesn't matter what you name it. OAW now reads the starting file names in
the folder. So if the file name is pp51dxx.3dz, the plane will show on the
planes and skins selection screen in OAW in the p51d slot.

Download the 352nd multiskin set here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1764527889/352_Multi-Plane.rar

Unzip and place the folder in your OAW128/skinfolder.
Start OAW and go to the plane and skin tab. On the left, select the
P51D. On the right, you will see the folder. Double-click it.
Start game and select the P51D. When flying, you will see the multiskin planes. (F9 thru them.
However, you will not always get your plane. Depends on what position in the squad
your plane is. (I believe yours is 08.) In single missions, you can alt-J until you are in
yours. But in career, you wont have a choice.

Hey Cass,
Welcome back! After you follow all of AO's instructions and it all works OK, I can change it so that your skin is in the #1 position.
