So for those of you flight simmers who dabble in the more modern military stuff, which do you prefer?

1). The western ILS needles?

or...

2). The Russian bubbles?

Would you rather chase the needles or the bubbles? I've been flying the Su-27 a lot lately and I kind of like the "bubble in a bubble" scheme. But I don't think I'm ready to totally convert. I still prefer the needles. They just seem "right" and "normal" somehow.

So what's yours?

Cheers!

Rick... pilot

I prefer Sperry over Collins.

ILS is for pussies! Dive bomb for the runway, land with at least 3 bounces and run off the end into the boundary fence is what real men do!

Well, at least now there's no question that I'm a real man...

Using the Flight Director is cheating. Way back, when we had a headwind both there and back, uphill both ways and five out of four engines always quit, we didn't use no flight director! We simply drew crossbars on the ADI and followed those wink

The needles on the VOR are good. I also like the delta shaped flight director, particularly the analog one on the Dreamfleet Boeing 727.

I preferred a delta type on my RealityXP Jetline2 as well.

Either, but I prefer the Western layout because it also provides the FPM for ease of visual landings. The Russian scheme might be easier to fly once 'on' but a smooth entry is a bit easier with the bars as it is simpler to control the turn prior to overshooting.
