So far so good.

Honestly, I can't notice much AI improvements, but immediately appreciated better FM, a single, well harmonized output, on the contrary of previous one, which seemed resulting from conflicting equations. Significantly higher inertia, but giving overall sensation of realism.

P.S.: can't understand "No HUD Icons" option in Difficulty Menu (BTW, nice, rationalized layout)- anybody knows?

If you can't see AI improvements compared to 4.10, than honestly I don't know what game you have been playing. smile

Loving the 4.11 as well btw.

Park yourself in front of an average AI and see how long it takes to get your A@@ shot off and then tell us you can't see the difference. LOL. It's excellent!!!

Great job!... Been waiting for this patch for quite some time now, and here it is! Thanks so much, Team Daidalos clapping

Having flown a dozen or so quick missions in a fighter against some bombers I've had an impression that the sniper's skills and fire lethality of the rear gunners have been somewhat mitigated wink

My comp is well below today's standards and still I can't complain about the overall simulation performance; kudos to the developers. There's one thing, though, a hotfix has been uploaded, containing a new version of the DT.dll; when I installed it I experienced a CTD on the first UI screen after quitting a QMB mission. No problems with the original 4.11 version smile

All in all, my respect, gents! smile

Delete your .last.quick file in your quicks directory.

The only thing I have experienced is that the tail gunners seem to be a little too passive now. After firing at the first plane they have just rotated to the right and quit firing at any planes. I always hated it when they wasted there ammo firing at nothing but now they just won't fire at anything.


Take up an SBD in a QMB mission and switch to the tail gunners position and try to fire the guns. You will find that unless you turn off the autopilot you can't do it. You will also still be flying the plane just like in a coop mission. That was a bit weird until I figured out what was happening.

For the most part I like what I am seeing though. thumbsup

Really nice job with the enemy AI. The fact that I feel I can use real tactics against the enemy is a god send. The opponents seem to have inertia, and follow the same rules of physics and engine management as I do. Seems they are good at working as a team too. One must be careful when approaching an enemy and choosing which to engage. Not doing so will get a tail full of lead.

I'm still futzing about with friendly AI, though. I kept requesting my wingman to cover me and though he replied in the affirmative, I rarely saw him. May be something I'm doing wrong. Still, all in all I'm happy. I've always hated IL2/FB enemy AI with the superman engine management and gravity defying manuevering. I've been in an FW 190 @ 440 kph with a 1500 meter advantage and a piddly Hurricaine would great me no problem and without any energy bleed. Now it's much better, and more enjoyable.


AI allies still crash land more often than they should, though.

I'm loving it so far.
I've been having a blast all over again with Il-2 now (I have Cliffs of Dover, but the limited plane set just isn't as fun for me, though i still fire it up every now and again...stupid Il-2 spoiling me)
I had a fun mission the other day where i used the QMB to make a joint attack of late war fun. I flew a flight of Pe-8's at the Japanese airbase and dropped bombs on them (Definitely like the group drop for bombs on that) then we tried to escape across the ocean to get back to base. Sadly the enemies flight of Zeros and Ki-45's wasn't having that. The zeros busied the F4U's that were covering us, while the 45's ripped through our formation. For being "flimsy Japanese planes" those 45's sure took a beating and kept on attacking. Of the 6 Pe-8's only myself, and my #2 made it back. I like to think it's because of my excellent tail gunning skills...which i consider excellent because i smoked one 45 and downed another.

No. However, there is already a mod activator for it. With it and some .rc editing, you can pretty much add all the cosmetic changes (graphics, sounds, effects, maps, etc.) from the big packs like UP3, DBW, etc...just not the mod aircraft at this point.

Congrads TD. cheers Have a question, how do you not have hud messages?, like in red letters that say "He is on your six". On all my other installs the hud messages are not there, I know there is way to turn them off, but I cannot find my own written instructions.

In your config file, under GAME change the 0 to a 1 for the text line: NoChatter.

NoChatter=0 to NoChatter=1

I am fairly certain I was alone. I had turned tail and I was running from the 15 enemy fighters that were still swarming the area. biggrin

(OK, please be gentle as I have always liked--but haven't always been very observant--when it comes to IL2.)

Have there always been animated troops? I was trying out the "tetse" on a column of German tanks and vehicles and was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of guys run for cover. Like I said, be gentle. This may have been a feature since 2001 and I never bothered to notice from my spit at 12000 feet.

A small detail, but I've seen no one mentioning it: the "Recent mission" in FMB is a nifty little feature, making life a bit easier for all us mission builders. Thanks TD!

Did anyone notice that it is now possible to request a weather report from ground control that gives the wind direction. This wasn't mentioned in the 4.11 guide. I wonder if there are other undocumented features.

I'm absolutely loving the 4.11 patch!
The AI improvements is really welcome. Seems TD have managed to stomp out the most retarded AI "features". biggrin
The Pe-8 - what a behemoth! Will take some time to master for sure.
New FM for the Fw190. Oh dear! It just turned into a monster of fighter. I'm guessing a lot more FW-flyers online will be more than happy to 'mix it up' with allied planes now.
