I didn't see the whole scene, but it was a TV program that usually previews an upcoming (or just released) movies. In the trailer I saw some African-American pilots in WW2, flying P-51s and fighting against German fighters. No doubt it was a movie about the famous Tuskegee Airmen. So, I searched the internet, but the only thing I got was a movie from 1995.
I maybe wrong and it turns out they're actually REviewing the movie, anyway. But, in case I'm not, do you guys know about any new Tuskegee Airmen movies?

One coming out called 'Red Tails', I think there was a thread a while back about it.

Should be able to find the trailer with that name.

Cheers!

Ah, so it's called "Red Tails"? Yes, I've re-searched it with that name, and found a web with synopsis and some screenies. Looks good. I hope the story is more historical than romance. I always admired Tuskegee Airmen. Would love to see it once it's released here. Thanks, Mojo thumbsup

Fascinating video but I disagree with Lucas's main point of contention but I'm afraid that would be PWEC material!

I was interested in this being with all the nice WW2 fighters being cg rendered but the trailer I saw sounded like they were rapping in the cockpits or maybe it was just the trailer? No thanks. One actor was over doing it and came of absolutely ridiculous like a kid with a toy and not a pilot. Hope I'm wrong though.

The trailer does give the impression that the movie will be a hyped up, adrenaline pumping action movie with exaggerated aerial stunts but I'll reserve my full judgment until I see the film next Saturday.

Oh common, it's not labeled as a documentary. But it has airplanes in it!
Betcha y'all watch it when it comes on Netflix.

I was thinking the same thing. Some how, I have a hard time believing that before each mission they all huddled together and chanted some rap ditty like you see on Sunday Football games. Might be trying to appeal to a wider audience I would imagine.

I remember seeing the original movie, the one that had "Theo" in it from the Cosby Show, and it was disappointing to hear them speaking "Jive" since it was not historically accurate. I'm not racist, but I am a history buff and I like period films to be accurate. I mean, the phrases, "Right on" or "Far Out" were not even invented in the 40's, yet these were spoken in that movie.

But, in the end, I guess we should just be happy that someone decided to even make a film about the Red Tails in this day and age. If you were to ask the average person on the street who the red tails were, I don't think very many would be able to tell you. If this film gets a young person to actually research and find out who these brave people were and what their accomplishments were, then I guess its not all bad.

I thought the same thing this movie looks too much like a hyped up blockbuster to remain faithful to the true story and events.

Let's hope the aircraft observe the laws of physics in this film.

um, so what blockbuster has ever followed laws of physics in the last 10 years? A big fat none.

You guys need to understand this is being made for the mass consumer, not prop heads or plane geeks like us. Just like every action flick you have seen in the past decade, check your brain at the door, you wont need it.

Funny you mentioned the football Lucky, the FIRST thing I thought when I saw the ad was Ray Lewis pumping the Ravens up. That was the moment I decided I wouldn't be seeing it. Besides, didn't Cuba Gooding Jr die in The Tuskegee Airmen? The character he plays in Red Tails is named Emanuel Stance, who was a Buffalo Soldier Sergeant that died in 1887. I don't get it George, I think it time to start up some Star Wars films again....

I loved "Gettysburg" all 3.5 hours of detail, grit and accuracy. But I sat damn near by myself in that theater. How many "kids" today even know the battle at Gettysburg even occurred?

I loved "Tora Tora Tora", all 3 hours of Japaneses dialogue and rivet counting authenticity, it took ten years for that film to make its production costs back.

At least "Red Tails" will awaken some segment of the under 30 generation that the Tuskegee airmen existed (or that their was an air war in Europe). WWII is quickly becoming a very long way in the past.

Excellent point and you reminded me of something I saw on my Battle of Britain (film from 1969) dvd. There was a short documentary that was made at the time of the film's release where pedestrians out in London were being stopped and asked if they knew what the Battle of Britain was and what happened. A shockingly high number of people didn't really know. Shocking since this was only 29 years after the event and these were Londoners!

I agree about the movie being a "refresher" for the younger generation to learn about the exploits of these brave men. I dare say the Tuskegee Airmen were the best fighting outfit in WW2, and that's not even a figure of speech or exaggeration; look back at how these men were chosen in the first place, with that kind of requirements I'm pretty sure they'd make some great astronauts, too!

Anyway, is it true that most people out there don't know about Tuskegee Airmen? I mean, I'm living thousands of miles away from America, and even I knew about them! (that story about Londoners having no idea about BoB is even more amusing..).

I would say yes and I can tell you with certainty that if I were to ask people at my workplace who the Tuskeegee Airmen were, most of them wouldn't know.

I had never heard of them until the movie in 1995.
