Have a question for you G27 users that had a G25 before upgrading.

I've got a chance to get a used G25 for a very good price, it's got very little time on it and looks to be in pretty good shape. I know there's less buttons on the wheel itself and there's some shifter differences between the two and the reviews I've read say the G27's shifter is much better, but would a G25 at less than half the price of a new G27 be worth it?

More concerned with what the FFB differences between the two are more than anything.

The FF effects are identical apart from the G27 is a little smoother and quieter due to the helical gears. The 27 also has a tiny FF deadzone in the centre which isn't there on the 25, the G25 shifter also has the sequential mode but the shifter in general isn't as well built. In short the 27 has a few tweaks but essentially there's not a lot between them.

The thing i like most about the 27 is the extra buttons. If you can live without those then it's a no brainer IMO.

Buy it smile

Thanks, Darren..... thumbsup

I figure my old MOMO Racing has seen it's better days and I might be able to swing this G25, gonna keep my fingers crossed.

Good luck Steve, i hope you manage to pull it off. Despite having been round the houses with many wheels i've ended right back up with the G25/7. It's fast, feels great and just works.

I haven't had a G25, but if it's under $100, I'd go for it based on price alone.
More than that, I'd just watch for a sale on the G27. Got mine for $180 with a sale and rebate.

This might help:

A G25 for half the price? Buy it, forget about the extra buttons of the G27. smile

I use a G25 and will probably use it until it falls apart - which will hopefully never be the case.

Another advantage of the G25 is that you can select either sequential or gate gear shifter.

Because of the sequential stick shifter and the lack of one on the G27, I've got this question...

Would it be possible to hook a G25 shifter up with a G27? Has anyone tried this?

Also what's the extra slot for in the wheel? I've go the pedals and shifter hooked up but there is a extra slot for something else...

Nope, won't work Pumbaa....many have tried. There is a halfway mod to make the G27 shifter sequential though.

Nope I've got a spare slot for something to be added to it... There's also 4 grooves for the wires..

On mine up under there, it's got grooves for:
USB (to pc), Power, Shifter, Pedals.
