I just ordered up a trackir setup and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I've been humming and hawing over buying this for years now, and CLOD online screams trackIR. smile

Good move bisher. Track IR is by far one of the most immersive additons to combat flight simming.

Congratulations!
Now prepare yourself for some initial motion sickness, and/or headaches at first -seriously- until you get adjusted. wacky (no barfing emoticons, so nearest thing...)

Then prepare yourself for some potentially flaky drivers, unless TIR5 is vastly improved. Not trying to sour your excitement, it is as Chivas says "one of the most immersive additions", second only to using joystick/pedals but it has its dimmer moments as well.

You will wonder why you waited all these years...

Congrats, Bisher! That's one purchase you won't regret. I've not had any problems whatsoever with my TrackIR 5. Naturalpoint regularly updates its drivers, usually to accommodate new video games hitting the market. There are a ton of profiles available which give you a wide range of movement and sensitivities depending on your preference.

TrackIR is very intuitive; you'll wonder why you never got it before. Have fun with it, try it out -- we're all here to give you tips on getting the best use out of it. thumbsup

Tip #1: install the TrackIR sottware first, THEN plug it into your USB port. The directions are very clear on this, and you'll be prompted during the software installation to plug in your unit. Back when I got TrackIR 3, guess who didn't follow directions then wondered why the software wasn't recognizing my shiny new TrackIR thingy? LOL

It's a weird thing. Some guys make a groundbreaking sim that is sold for a pittance... - And because of it others are raking in the dough, selling TIR, hardware, joysticks... I really think there should be some support for 1C, 777 Studios et al. by all the hardware companies!

Well, they could knock on the doors of CPU and GPU manufactures first, as they have made us buy more potent CPUs and GPUs. Then the ISPs can drop by the game developers for the size of the patches that need to be downloaded, to fix the games, instead of charging the consumer for delivering the bits and bytes. Etc. etc. etc.

[EDIT]Oh wait, they have a thing called "The Way It's Meant To Be Played ™ ".

You will know when you have finally gotten completely used to Track IR...it is that moment when you are watching one of Freycinet's videos and you can't help but move your own head in a vain attempt to change view. duh WinkNGrin

I can't imagine flight simming without Track IR anymore mate, you are going to love it!

That makes for me too. I find myself flapping my head around in vain whenever I play Battlefield too. If my TrackIR died on me I'd probably have to stop playing until I scrounged up the funds to get another. It's that good. Costly but very worth it.
