Hi Guys.
With the help of Will, we have discovered a way of subdividing a tile firstly from 1, to 4 and then to 16. Tony has made the suggested changes to the code, with the result of turning the EAW world into a very mountainous terrain.
The reason for the mountains is because, when you add in an extra point, this point has no value, so in effect it is set at zero, making big valleys in the terrain.
Tony then tested 16 subdivisions, and the spikes got bigger with more valleys.
What we need now, is a new HM, which matches the new format. To do this we need a, in the first instance 1.25 times larger greyscale map, converted to EAW16.HM, and then a 4 times larger, for 16. We might be able to go to 32 or even 64, but we don't know what fps implications the will be for the game.
I expect Tony will post his test results, so you can see what's going on.
