A few of my favorite things:

Pe-8
IL4

Planes can spawn from a parked plane (static). LOVE THIS FEATURE.

New AI maneuvers and dogfighting a little close to human vs. human (obviously will never be "perfect", but hey).

Even though I do NOT have a newer TrackIR, I do like their implementation of 6DOF. I've advocated for realistic/limited motion, and I am very satisfied with the way they did it. I activate mine with my middle-mouse button.

Mousewheel zoom in FMB and in-flight map. Kudos.

Bomb fuses and other new difficulty options. ESPECIALLY external view for taxiing, yet externals switched off the moment you're airborn. VERY nicely done. (yes, I know mods have done this, but it's nice to see in the "vanilla" version).

New icon options (rcu).

Player head movement (the avatar/pilot 3d model) head "moves" when you look around. This is recorded in NTRK and transferred across the network to your coop/enemy buddies. This is so cool. Also, elevator/aileron/flap information is more accurately transferred to all players. Also (heh), bomb/rocket hit/impact is more accurately transferred.

Can you tell one not near as smart as you guys what "New Icon options (rcu)" means? Thanks for any help.

The rcu is an alias definitions file. It's a quick way to define aliases to perform commands.

For example, mine contains:

Code:
@set fast off
@set echo on
@set alias on
@set history 20
@file dosturmolog
@file gc.cmd
@file iconset.txt

@alias a alias
@a h history
@a s show
@a md mp_dotrange
@a mdfr md FRIENDLY COLOR 5 DOT 15 RANGE 5 TYPE 5 ID 5 NAME 5
@a mdfo md FOE COLOR 0.1 DOT 15 RANGE 0.1 TYPE 0.1 ID 0.1 NAME 0.1
@a mdofr md FRIENDLY DEFAULT
@a mdofo md FOE DEFAULT
@a md92ndfr md FRIENDLY COLOR 1.65 DOT 25 RANGE 0.01 TYPE 1.65 ID 0.01 NAME 0.01
@a md92ndfo md FOE COLOR 1.65 DOT 25 RANGE 0.01 TYPE 1.65 ID 0.01 NAME 0.01
@a fon fps START SHOW
@a foff fps STOP

My @file iconset.txt command runs the contents of iconset.txt to the console so I don't have to. I can also issue "macros" (aliases) by typing, for example, mdofr, mdofo, md92ndfr, etc.

My iconset.txt command has the following:

Code:
mp_dotrange FRIENDLY DOT 25.0 COLOR 1.65 RANGE 0.01 TYPE 1.65 ID 0.01 NAME 0.02 ALTICON 30.0 ALTSYMBOL · ALTCOLOR 0
mp_dotrange FOE DOT 25.0 COLOR 1.65 RANGE 0.01 TYPE 1.65 ID 0.01 NAME 0.02 ALTICON 30.0 ALTSYMBOL · ALTCOLOR 0
timeout 60000 file iconset.txt

This performs automatically my "typical" icon settings and "loops" them every 60000 milliseconds. The patch new feature, however, puts a new file called simply "Icons" in each pilot folder under the users folder. You can directly edit this file with notepad and set your own icons.

Tolwyn, thank you very much for the response. I have no earthly idea what you said in it, but that's not your fault. I am 69 yrs old, and not very computer smart, so the fault is all mine. I've enjoyed playing the game since its inception way back when, and I was just curious about the "rcu" thing. I read stuff in this forum and sometime I understand what you guys are talking about, often I don't so I ask. You were nice to take the time to answer me, as you folks have always been. Thanks.

I took off in a 109 yesterday and got landing gear damage i guess was going to fast before I raised them.

Well when I came in for landing I tried to lower gear and only one wheel came down! cool

I wonder if the same type damage can occur from combat damage? If it does thats really cool because I have seen a lot of pictures

where a plane would drop one undercarriage wheel from being damaged by gunfire.

Checked for weather forecast, and nothing, commands are there, but no one responded.

Damaged gear, before 4.11, there were a few times I've had damaged gear when flying online, from combat, but very few, (though I guess all the planes the the other team would not let me land had damaged gear after I was blown to smithereens.)

4.11m is great so far.

Hmmm, I've been getting damaged gear (without message) since IL-2: FB and manual gear commands came around.

I've rescued more than one plane by lowing gear manually when they wouldn't go down otherwise, at least in the Hurricane, IL-2, P-39, and P-47.

Yep, it was quite the revelation the first time I used the manual landing gear command and it worked even though the automatic landing gear command had failed.
