WC, *superb* comparison pictures there, thanks for posting those! I have a bit of pet peeve about HDR and these screenshots illustrate it in outstanding clarity:
In what possible way does this (which is what most HDR games are tuned to look like)

... look *better* than this

To me personally, the first picture appears very dull, muted and out of focus - TOTALLY unlike what the crisp, vivid real world looks to my eyes. It makes me squint at the screen as though I was *badly* drunk. Why do SO many developers (and in the case of DCS, quite a few users) deliberately make their games look like that? What was the frame rate in those two examples (HDR cold and HDR off, respectively), I assume HDR causes a performance penalty? So you'd get worse graphics that run slower with the vast majority of HDR implementations, why anybody would do this to themselves has never failed to boggle my mind. Although HDR can be done without everything becoming a blurry mess (some of the other settings you show demonstrate this quite nicely, an even better example is AeroflyFS), you sometimes wonder if it is worth the time and effort for the developers.
This isn't directed at you, just a rant about a pet issue of mine
