Both these tracks are twisty, big elevation change layouts with at least one long straightaway to wind out the 7-speed gearbox. Really a plus to the already fun Skodas.

Oh great, glad Sunday AM fixed setup sprint racing returns, seeya on track fer sure (Wed nts not avail though)

UPDT: This Vitus choice is just abit long and overly complex for casual simple racing with likely 12 or 15 entries
. Gonna pass, not takn time to figure out this one, vote for more like next wks Old Ring, gonna do that one allrt

Cheers

Don

I ran the server for a little last night to check everything.... I was kinda hoping we were going to run the longer version with all the hairpins, but this track is a lot of fun in these cars...

Also is there any chance we could change the colour of the number 13 in future? It's my racing number, but seriously baby blue?

This track has a lot of versions already, but a rally race with the Celica mod would be killer on that dirt road... As long as you moved the caravans off the racing line :p

I always love tracks that you can explore off circuit on, how do you get off track to the dirt road.

For those wanting to find this dirt track, in the pits you can drive straight through the pit wall behind your car in the garage, take caution as the pillars behind that wall ARE solid. spin the car around to face the direction you would usually go to exit the pits normally out the back of the pits, and drive to the rear corner, there is a tunnel, it has gates across the entrance to the tunnel but dont be fooled you can drive straight through these too! (side note keep the speed limiter on until you are through the tunnel! otherwise DQ) out of the tunnel is a mini roundabout patch of grass, i took it right from there and followed it all the way around! pretty darn enjoyable gravel track!

have at it gents!

It varies according to Doug's whim. biggrin We've been running 5 laps or so, sometimes a little more. These are mostly sprint races. No time hang back. He'll throw in AI cars in some races, or adjust the time of day (which comes into play, as the Skodas don't have headlights). As to number of races, as many that'll fit into around 2-3 hours or as long as people are still there, I guess.

As the one living closest to Czech Republic, I can see lights in Skoda's accounting department floor. It will take them untill small hours tomorrow when the finish counting value of the demage we caused to their cars today :-)

Good fun those races, although a bit too much contact as for my taste. Add insult to injury, in my case contacts from the rear as I was quite slow in comparison to you guys. I didn't last a lap in last race. I think adding those AI was not good idea considering quite decent grid. But I have ended my race by bullying through them so my own fault to be honest...

Hats off to some guys who I usually stay with, but here they were way too quick for me today

No doubt about it, the Frightmare Skodas are fan favorites.

The pocket rockets will return 7th, 11th, 14th, and 18th March. The request has been made for some dirt racing, so that'll be included along with another track I have in mind.

Once again sorry for the T-bone hit Piotr and then the tap in the chicane. sigh

Could someone give me a bit of info with regards to racing in this? Is it just turn up at the server or do you have to "Book" as such? Never played online but this looks like a lot of fun, and if Brands is in order, I'll be there!

hi Ragtop! no need to book a place just turn up for the races when they are scheduled smile we had 16 or so guys on the grid for the races just gone, the mod is fantastic you can really throw these things around, bump and grinding just like real touring cars!
dont worry if someone gets into you either bumping is all part of these things smile

Thanks for the info Mr_Hill! Out of interest, whats the protocol if more than a grids worth of people turn up? I wouldn't want to take the place of someone whos been to all the races etc. and then make a mess of things!

We have plenty of cars and bandwidth. Never a problem Ragtop. Most we've run on the server was 36 and it had plenty more fuel for more entrants.

Looking forward to the race coming in March! They seem very infrequent though, is it not possible to have a few more races a month? I don't really know where to go to find the good online racing!

i think we should run a series of these before rF1 has to take a back seat, maybe a 6 race calendar at tracks like Brands Hatch and Donnington, Knockhill, Cadwell and other similar tracks maybe run it as a BTCC series smile

If we could sustain a 6 race series, I'd be all for it with the Skodas. Just doubtful we'd get more than 6-8 drivers by race 4. Dunno, lets see if more people are willing to commit.

If anything can sustain drivers over a few races it would be this. The Skoda's are so amazingly fun to drive, i could practically run em as a permanent fixture biggrin

I say go for it, open up the skins, pick half a dozen folk to chose a track, we could even have teams if we get enough drivers. All just for fun of course. smile

Well certainly seems there is interest biggrin i think we could get 6-8 drivers with ease wink

@Ragtop, i went to see the BTCC at silverstone in 2010, and was directly across from where the AON Focus went smashing into the wall, was amazing! you can't beat BTCC, especially Brands Hatch (first ever track i visited i might add to see BTCC when i was about 2 or 3)

How do the dates of Sunday, 11 & 18 March, Sunday 8, 15, 22 April look?

5 race series do it?

Here's the actual schedule.
http://www.btcc.net/html/racedates.php

Might be nice to parrot the actual events as close as our schedule permits.

it depends on the event, usually about 20-30 mins including any qualifying sessions. We then have 2-3 hrs of racing. Often some of the less serious events like the Skoda's will consist of several short races so you can just jump in anytime you like.

There's also practice events on Saturdays at the same time which tend to run along a similar format. Even if you can't make Sundays then these sessions are just as fun.

Also practice on Wed's but that's 8PM Eastern which is 1am UK time. There are a couple of idiots dedicated fans who usually try to make it though smile

Edit Reason: Typo: It should be Skoda NOT Soda lol. Thanks Steve!

Everyone okay with driving the Skodas for a British based track series?

I know there was a BTCC mod but don't think it is close to the beloved Skodas.

Yup, the BTCC mod is OK(ish) but not nearly as good as SodaSkoda's. Might be nice to have custom skins though and maybe use the full mod with 2006, 2007 and 2008 cars?

All the tracks listed above have some pretty good versions for rFactor.

I'll just have to swap around as much as I can and rush home in the evenings!

Haha! 1AM is actually great for me, I'm a real insomniac, and I don't work Thursdays, maybe I'll see some of you guys there :P

I love the Skodas, as cool as Sierra RS Cosworths from 1988 would be, I'm very happy to race them.

How would tracks be distributed? Is it down to us to download them all or could they be bundled like the actual car mod is? I ask because there's a couple of different Brands Hatch on rFactor Central ETC, it'd be hard to all get the same tracks.
