Well actually there are reasons for optimism... if the original plans for an SDK to support a modding and 3rd party commercial industry are brought to fruition...

...Either way, Eastern Front holds minimal interest for me (just slightly more than WWI). ... I'd prefer a game that works. Ah! You haven't tried Rise Of Flight obviously. You do know that the whole sim is free, and it works, right? Better than a kick to the head --but free means limited to two aircraft, so man-up and get a few more if you like it. I'd be in for MTO, very exciting, early war, some biplanes, shipping targets, eye-ties running backwards... Doesn't get much better than that.

Free except that you have to buy almost all of the aircraft separately...

What I've spent on RoF - $50 plus another $50 in additional AC is so far giving my far more bang for the buck than the $50 I've spent on the DOA Cliffs of Dover. At the rate RoF is being developed, it's likely CloD will never catch up. I hope it does, don't get me wrong. For the moment however, you can't beat RoF.

Yup well that pretty much covers it, all the Americans whining that the Pacific should be modeled need to redirect their frustration to their own money hungry corporations! It beats me how those vultures can sleep at night LOL! Bring on the eastern front, love it! You're right about corporate greed of course, but seems to me a fair number of Anzac pilots flew in the Pacific.

I have absolutely no issues with someone defending their copyright. It has nothing to do with greed. Other developers have been able to create games involving US aircraft without this kind of drama- they should have maybe asked first? As it is, I would be pleasantly surprised if this franchise gives us any American aircraft, which means scenarios will be severely limited. Even the Eastern front saw a lot of US built aircraft.

For sure there was a lot of Aussie involvement in the pacific, but to my mind the whole pacific war was far less interesting than the Russian front, and North Africa where we were heavily involved from the start. As a matter of fact I seem to recall an Aussie/RAF Hampden squadron being involved on the eastern front at some stage as well! The thing is there was a lot of WWII already under the belt before the US even decided to get off the fence, and just because you didn't turn up to play a staring part doesn't mean it was any less important to the outcome. I personally have more interest in the dark early days of the war, more often than not fighting out numbered and under gunned, they are the stories that really inspire me!
Cheers Craig

Not a very fair Poll IMHO all the answers are negative and suggest that anyone answering doesn't want to fly the Eastern Front, not that I'm interested in the Eastern Front mind you but to be fair one must assume there will be those who would. Personally I'd like the Med/North Africa but that's me. If all the installments are to be merged ala 1946 then I would have to have it to be able to join a server that has it no matter what map might be running. Rxactly the way I saw it not a fair post since I plane on geting it.

As for Midway - American courts have decided that the rights to create a historical depiction of an aircraft descend indefinitely to whichever company happened to buy up the remains of the earlier companies which sold it - regardless of how many servicemen gave their lives flying the equipment. So, until the courts change it doesn't make financial sense. Yup... - It is pretty ironic that American courts have decided to ensure that US planes will no longer be freely simulated. US planes paid with tax payer money... - Cultural suicide. What bothers me, is that LM, Boeing, and whoever else shouldn't own the rights the licensing of Military aircraft anyway. I'd argue they don't own that right, as the American tax payers paid for EVERYTHING from the design and engineering, to the construction of those aircraft. When you contract with the US Gov, you should automatically be required to put any registered trade marks relevant to the project(for example, F-16 Fighting Falcon) in the public domain. If LM or Boing have a problem with that, they can simply let someone else have the multi-billion dollar contract. Cultural Suicide indeed. With regards to BFM: As a self-centered American, afraid of people in foreign lands, the idea of learning about other cultures and histories scares and confuses me. But I think I'll manage. IF they fix it.1C has yet to put my money where it's mouth is.

Beautiful terrain, coastlines, deserts, mountains...it has it all.
