Hello.

I have made a sound mod for myself when i play APOS.
So i choose to share this mod with you, maybe you will like it.

v 1.5.0:
- All infantry weapons and footsteps changed (except the Boys At rifle).
- Hand Grenades explosions, whiz & body impacts, small explosions modified.
- Artillery impacts, ground explosions modified.
- All heavy guns, mortars & tanks weapons changed.
- Bomb drop sound & Aircraft engine (Credits to Tiger_33 from the Checksix community).

-> There is a readme inside if you don't know how to install. This mod is for the dec 2011 (final) version. Also, this mod is compatible with the DLCs.

How hard is it to make a sound mod? The .pdf file "Mod Tools" is utterly confusing.

I uploaded a new version. Changed all the heavy guns and tanks weapons (except the Leib).

Replacing the sounds is not very hard. The big problem is that you can't play (?) the extracted sounds. So you need sometimes to figure which sound is for which gun... (ingame weapon & sound are not always equal of the extracted files name)

I think your mod sounds better than the original.\\

I'm guessing here, but first you extracted the original "sounds.flatdata" file, then repackaged them new ones and wrote your own "desc.addpack" file?

I also assume that you can read Russian, because I find it hard to believe anyone could understand the English directions.

I hope biggrin It's not a quality/pro work, but at least, all infantry sounds (expect the DT and PTRS) are from their originals counterparts.

Yes i did that.

No i can't read Russian at all (I'm French). It was a bit "pain in the ass" to try multiple time before all work well.

Vyllis, the machineguns are much better. I can't hear the difference in tank guns very well. They still sound too 'soft' especially when you're right next to the tank. But I never heard them shoot so I could be wrong of course,

Its amazing that anyone can effectively understand that guide. I tried to follow the simple example to change text about a T-34, and the "Stencil" example file is still in Cyrillic letters.

I don't expect many addons created for this game; hopefully I'm wrong.


Could you please post the text version of your "desc.addpack" files before you repackaged it? Just as an example?

Full name of the file before: "desc.addpack.engcfg2"

A look into the file:

Once your "desc.addpack.engcfg2" is ready, use the file "pd2cfgp.cmd" located in "Achtung Panzer Operation Star\docs\modwork\cfgtext" to convert your file into:

"desc.addpack.config"

Then rename your brand new "desc.addpack.config" to "desc.addpack".

Et voilà.

Mods is better to rename to VAPOS_Mods, for example smile

And then can someone else do the mod which is also put into the folder Mods sicko

Hello,

I forgot to pack in the latest sounds in my 1.3.0; Sorry.

So, here is the 1.4.0.
It's the same of the 1.3.0 but:

- Artillery impacts sounds changed.
- Whizz & bullets impacts ( bodyhit ) modified.
- Tiger heavy tank main armament sound modified.
- Bomb drop sound changed.
- Flame-thrower sound from 1.3.0 removed (not working right now).

Hey,
I got to say, I love this sound mod. Sounds are really powerful and got more "umph" than the standard ones.

One request, could you please mod the "idle" sounds that soldiers make? You know the ones where they are just standing around and say stuff like "Ziel gesichtet!" "Achtung Der Feind!" etc. That chatter is really distracting and unrealistic. Soldiers at watch at night would not scream stuff like "WIR WERDEN ALLE STERBEN!!" Especially when you know a bit of German it seems completely out of place smile Russian should be the same.

It should be quiet except for background sounds, wind, snow, etc, except when there's actual fighting going on of course.

I believe there was a mod for AP:Kharkov that did the same, can't seem to find it atm though...
