A lot of you likely have known about this mod for a long time, and that's fine. It's not exactly new, but there HAS been a recent update with the Mazda RX-8 and the Dodge Challenger added as new entries. I just wanted to mention it because I ran part of a race with it tonight (had to bail out early because of a sudden family issue) but for the short time I was online it was amazing. Yup me and Chad were racing at Monza tonight in a field including us which totalled 25 cars! the cars are absolutly fantastic, one of the very best mods ive ever raced on! Once i'd got the setup dialled in i was setting competetive laptimes, unfortunatly my race ended prematurely to! After putting myself 12th on the grid unable to find space and time to set the time id set in practice, all seemed fine made it round, but then got wiped out by the guy behind me in the last corner on lap 1, he went into the back of me at 130mph after seemingly fall asleep, nothing i could do andmy car shot off into the wall destroying the engine. disappointed but this mod is absolutly fantastic! the cars also sound like BEASTS aswell

Are these just pickup races or are you in some sort of league?

They are "mini-leagues" that run on Race2Play...usually six to eight races per "season" with points kept track of.
For the most part we just drop into the races as we have time, or if it's something we're interested in running.
I'm part of a VHR truck series season and plan to run all the races...but that's the only full season I plan to run.
So I guess the answer to your question is "both".

The only problem with race2play is they are moving more and more to a paid monthly subscription site only... Right now it doesn't matter when you sign up, if you are a free player and more paying players sign up then the allotted number of entrants you could be put on the waiting list and miss out on a race altogether through no fault of your own... The chapter leaders (who run different series) can't even modify it for championship contenders, and they've just taken away the ability for free players to represent a team, so basically it is pick up and play short runs that interest me over there...
I'm competing in the same series of VHR as Chad mainly to get more up to speed and learn what I can from it to transfer to my road racing... So far it's helping a fair bit... Both so is driving more of the V8 mods... Must be something to do with the cylinders in the engine or something... I'm planing on running all the V8 Supercar races I can, and after finding out there's a Viper in the NAGT mod I'll be in a lot of those as well...
Back to the mod... IT'S GOT A VIPER!!!! I'm sold... Took it for a spin around the Isle of Man, and damn is it a fine car to drive... LOVE IT... I haven't tried any other cars yet, and I probably won't for sometime, but there's just so many to chose from, I think the Challenger will be the first one I try after I get bored with the Viper, which will be a while... lol

One reason I liked it when it first came out was the possible racing of different US brands...Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge. First racing event I ever attended was an old Trans Am race with the Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers and I still enjoy watching videos of them from time to time. Might even have to grab me a Mustang template and do some painting for this....

It's worth a download. The cars are definitely unique. I was having a great time in the Volvo last night - even though I wasn't the quickest there were a lot of other guys right around my laptimes, and the differences in the cars was on full display.
For a while I was chasing a couple of guys in practice - they were in a Corvette and a Camaro. I was destroying them in the corners, but they had the legs on the straights and were just walking away from me. Yet our laptimes were all within .1 or .2 while we were running together. Extraordinarily well balanced.

Might even have to grab me a Mustang template and do some painting for this.... I read into it, and it's a Premium member only deal on Race2Play... Which is at least $14.95 a month, for a hosting site that doesn't provide games just runs them that's very steep... I wonder if we can convince Doug to run a enduro 2 hour race in these....
