Note: IMHO this is prehaps the most aesthetically pleasing airframe of the WW1

The Western Front Profiles:

The Pfalz D.III was a fighter aircraft used by the Luftstreitkräfte (Imperial German Air Service)
during the First World War. The D.III was the first major original design from Pfalz Flugzeugwerke.
Though generally considered inferior to contemporary Albatros and Fokker fighters,
the D.III was widely used by the Jagdstaffeln from the fall of 1917 through the summer of 1918.
It continued to serve as a training aircraft until the end of the war.

Yes it is a very attractive aircraft and about 20 years I bought a vacform kit which I have still not got round to building. About one year ago I bough a Roden injection moulded kit and I will be building it before long. I rather like the overall silver finish with yellow trim. It should look impressive. I also have a vacform kit of the later Pfalz DXII which competed with and was the "poor relation" of the Fokkker DVII but still served in several units at the end of WWI and I must build that before too long.

I alway thought the DIIIa was one of the best looking WWI scouts. I recently completed an rc version done in a rough approximation of the Holtzem scheme.
