Wow, retaining the turn based battles! I love that aspect of X-Com! I'd figured that would have been the first thing to go these days.

If you go to their website there's a developer diary sort of video there. It's also on Youtube but it wants you to log in to see it there. You still need to confirm your age for the main site but after that you're OK.

There's a preview in this months pcgamer, this is going to be a instant buy for me as the original was one of my favourite games of all time. I remember when I had a not so legal copy for my Amiga 500 and struggled to run it.

I think there is a backlog of classic, really aging computer games and sims that each of us secretly (or openly) pray would be modernized, without sacrificing the original. Not a new interpretation or take, just a faithful remake of a great program. X-Com has got to be on many people's lists. The effort by Firaxis takes on a tremendous load of wishes and hopes and prayers and, if successful, could open the way for other sims and games to be remade. But if it is a miserable, or even boring product and sinks in the marketplace, I fear it will take all those other dreams down with it. So PLEASE FIRAXIS! WIN ONE FOR THE GIPPER! PLEASE!!!

Cool. The original was a blast to play. The next game in the series though, Terror from the Deep, I found somewhat less fun.
