"Splash screen" usually refers to a still image - in this case the "Jane's F-18 simulator" screen that displays after the two movies are done playing. The first movie is the "Jane's" movie; some version of this played before all Jane's Combat Simulation games. The second is the intro movie; what you are calling the "splash screen". This was replaced in TSH v3, and again in TSH v4.

I guess there is not gonna be a fix for that Joe??
As I've explained before, DXTweaker is not software designed by TSH. We can't change it, edit it, control it, etc. It has been left for us in an unfinished state, unfortunately.

Ah, gotcha. No, I don't anticipate a fix for that, since this movie is nor important to gameplay. If you want to watch it, run JF-18 without DXTweaker. After that you can turn the movie(s) off in OPTIONS > MISCELLANEOUS.

I have recently built a new PC and was looking forward to getting Janes F/A-18 up and running again but I am afraid that I am SOL.

None of the posted "workarounds" or "fixes" seem to work for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to get up and flying again.

System Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2 Ghz
4 GB OCZ RAM
ATI 4870 1GB Radeon (Catalyst 9.6)
DirectX 9.0c
WinXP 32
Win 7 64

So I actually got my copy of Jane's F18 to work! This is what worked for me so others usage/fixes may vary:

Here is a little history to my fight with getting JF18 to work on my recently built system. After I built the PC I decided to get JF18 with TSH 4.02 up and running again. I knew beforehand that I might be in for a disappointment with getting JF18 to work correctly in WinXP with the system specs that I had (see above post) but figured I would give it a try. I got it installed in a XP 32 and everything runs fine until I get into AA mode, the notorious AA slowdown reared its ugly head! After trying all of the known fixes and work arounds with no success I figured I would try it in Win 7 which is located on a separate partition.

Just as in WinXP everything worked great in Win 7 right up to the point of turning my AA radar on, frames drop to 1 FPS and many curses ensued! As a last ditch effort I went out on a whim and tried to launch the JF18 Exe that is installed on the XP partition from within Win 7 environment. To my complete surprise it now works flawlessly! No slowdowns, graphical anomalies, or any other problems. Total flight time in game is now going on the 6 hours mark without a single crash or other notable problem. I really can't explain why this works it just does.

Perhaps the oddest fix we've heard yet...

This should work also very well here:

DXTweaker and Carrier crabbing

Follow up from post #2833759 - 03-08-2009 17:28 downwards.

Advise the results.

Thanks,
Dirk.
