That was one of mine old ideas, but 'cause nobody put his opinion about it, I'll try it again:

Is anybody interested about extended version of after action reports? wink :

How about including of the value of the "Parameter" in the informaton like:

Quote:
54:01, V-755 20DSU Missile launched on Channel-1
Target distance: 90km
Target azimuth: 258°
Target elevation: 15°
Target altitude: 23,9km
Target parameter: xx.xkm
SNR mode: LORO - 150km
Missile guidance method: I87V/TT (I87V Three Point)
Fuse method: Standart

And including the uppermentioned data in the impact point, like:
Quote:
55:05, Missile exploded on Channel-1
SR-71 Habu hit by SAM. (miss distance: 122m)
Target distance: 42km
Target azimuth: 315°
Target elevation: 31°
Target altitude: 24,1km
Target parameter: xx.xkm

It could be optional.... smile

First of all I want to say here that I started to play this sim recently and it's really great, fun and extremelly interesting! This sim is really a masterpiece, thanks Hpasp!

For combat flight simmers (like me) this sim definitly give us the chance of "seeing" things in diferent perspective! I play flight sims since the late 80's and I must say that I played almost every combat fligth sim that came out to the market from that timeframe until today and in most combat flight sims I remember being shot at by for example the SA-2s (which I nicknamed in my mind as "spiders" - due to the usual "shape" of an SA-2 SAM site seen in many combat flight sims, specially older ones) and now with SAM simulator I have the chance to experience what's like to shoot at enemy aircraft with those same SA-2s (and the other SAMs as well) and of course experience what's like being shot at with Shrikes, Standard ARMs and HARMs.

And if I'm allowed I do have a few sugestions which I think could be interesting in order to improve this already awesome sim:

1- Make/add to SAM simulator a "what-if" scenario set in North Korea which could be considered as being somehow analogous to the Falcon4 campaign. Why do I think that such scenario would be great?
For starters, North Korea is one of the few and perhaps the only country in the world that still currently use/employs ALL the SAMs modeled in SAM Simulator (SA-2, SA-3, SA-4 and SA-5). This would be a very challenging scenario since it would model lots and modern enemy aircraft which could employ heavy ECMs and modern weapons (like HARMs) but at the same time being a very rich target enviourment (lots of enemy targets to shoot at!). Since it's a what-if scenario there's more room for extra "gameplay imagination".

In fact, a dream that I have is that this sim could someday be integrated with Falcon4 which would give the possibility of having some players flying US/South Korean/NATO F-16s (or other aircraft) and in the other side other players playing as North Korean SAM operators (or/and other players even playing as North Korean fighter pilots), but this later part is of course only a dream/ramble... wink

2- Another sugestion that I have is to make a mission editor for SAM simulator -> This could even be something similar to the current pratice range in Hungary modeled in SAM simulator but the player would choose a map from the existing ones (such as Hungary, Egypt, Vietnam, USSR, etc...), choose where to place the SAM sites (and also choose the type of SAM sites) and be able to choose a wider array of target type and target numbers and their flight path/missions.

3- This is more a request than a sugestion (per se): please if possible lower the required screen resolution to a minimum of 1024x768. Why am I asking this? While most desktop monitors (like mine) support 1280x1024 resolutions, IMO this sim is also a great "candidate" to be played in laptops due to the fact that it's very light on PC system resources and it only needs a mouse and a keyboard to be played but many laptop monitors don't support 1280x1024 resolutions (my laptop for example only support a maximum resolution of 1280x800).

But once again, thanks for this great sim!

Laptop your 1280x800, 1366x768 or 1600x900 is.

I have a 1366x768 laptop!

Works for me, but cut the screen!

Will work on a laptop 18.4 FullHD 1920x1080 resolution there.

The simulator is designed for minimum no less than 1280x1024, all below as I have 1366x768 or 1280x800 as you work, too, will be, but trimming the screen.

It is necessary to reduce the picture then, and that this will reduce to just.

If the decrease is even less to do, do not it will be visible figures, inscriptions, apparently not so different.

Now apparently the main from the developer to include in the simulator as much as possible SAM Systems.

yeah

Yes, it's possible to play with lower resolutions but the problem is like you said that it will cut the screen and in my case some important buttons/functions (like arming the missiles in the SA-2 system) are also cut from the screen and therefore not acessible!

As to extended AARs - yes, it would be nice, but - to preserve a bit of realism for purists, to which I also probably belong - maybe in two variants. First would record what actually can be recorded by SAM crews (e.g. range boresight position instead of target range, if unavailable or only predicted; azimuth, elevation, fusing, guidance, explosion / K3 - if observed), and second would contain all real-world data you proposed. Hit-kill-miss info would certainly belong to second group. smile

I see added value in learning how to interpret what you can see from your firing position, and possibly even more if we finally get some mission generator - today, after just a few rehearsals you can learn all flightpaths by heart. smile

Hpasp, what about this EKV effect I mentioned before (missile responses still visible and missiles guided when going EKV after launch) - a bug or not? smile

Do I understand well that transmitter was to be switched on for real guidance for the last 15-18 seconds? How to compare it to 25 sec. required in Volkhov? Security margin?
And I wonder, in how many situations thay succeeded... Any data on number of Wild Weasels killed by Dvina in Vietnam?

My idea was to compare the data from the extended AAR's to any information from the "real world". Thus we can learn more, and monitor the SIM behaviour.... wink You're right - maybe it would be more usefull with mission editor (Personally, I would create some scenarios, that was tested from developers of real SAM complexes and check what would be the difference). Yesterday I read in an research from 1966 for possibilities to shoot A-11 (SR-71) with S-75;S-75M and SA-75. It could be interest to observe an extended AAR on this scenario...;)
But the most important opinion would be Hpasp's....

From the 397 F-105 lost during the Vietnam War, 31 is acknowledged that it was shot down by Dvina.
