Hey there,
Anyone else have this problem ? When I am just flying along, the game never stutters, but when I get into a dogfight the game will freeze for just a second and of course when it starts back up the enemy plane has moved to a new position. Its a real immersion killer for me. I had this problem all along but I had kind of a slow DSL connection and chalked it up to that, but I changed services and my internet speed is almost 1 mb per second.

And sure enough, last night while playing I got that same old stutter right in the middle of a great dogfight.

Any suggestions ?? Do I have my graphic settings to high ? I have a 3.0 dual core cpu, 4mb of Ram, and a 9800 GTX graphics card.

Thanks,
Tracy

Graphics could be a problem, but since you were online, it was more likely a problem of your ping rate on the server you were on.

Have you been there before and there was no lag? Maybe there were more players logged than usual.

Did you notice the ping rate when you were in the multiplayer server screen? You should see a green barred representation of the ping rate. If I remember right its green if its acceptable and a dark red if the ping rate is not acceptable.

Graphics wise - the 9800 is on the weaker side of things, you might post your graphic settings if the ping rate seemed okay.

Is the OS XP? or Vista or Win7? 32 bit or 64?

If its 32 bit, you wouldn't utilize the full 4MB of ram without a tweak, the more important ram would be on your 9800 card.

Thanks for the response Jim.
I was playing offline, but I was connected to the internet. You know where you get the option of playing offline but still be online ?

My system is 32 bit XP so it is a little old. Maybe I should skip the internet connection and just play totally offline. I'll try that the next few times and see if I still get that annoying stutter.

Greetings,
Its most likely the graphics card bottleneck when an AI spawn occures and a whole load of new textures get loaded.
both the cpu and gpu work hard at that point

its why a number of mission builders try to load everything at the beginning, but that leads to other issues.
