I have all firewalls off, and my router in DMZ mode... yet my Xbox still reports that my NAT settings are moderate, and i should open them... but where are they on this Linksys page? and how are the NAT settings changed/opened?

thx in advance.

Hey magnum,

I would suggest setting up a Static IP for the XBox. When you do setup a Static IP for the XBOx choose an IP outside the range of the Routers DHCP Start & End IP which is .100-150.. So you could choose .50 or .200 as long as it is NOT .100 and anything inbetween too .150..

Once you have the Static IP setup for the XBox piut on the DMZ again and point to the new IP you should no be good to go..

But let me ask what if you have a seperat modem the make and model of your Modem??

OH Im Sorry I should have posted this Guide:

http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-xbox360.htm

Basically just pick when it asks you for an IP for the XBox set it at .200..Also see this guide on How to Setup A Static IP. it is for the PC but the info on How to get your DNS IP's and such will be helpfull for setting the static IP on the XBox:

http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

If you want to meet on TS3 I can walk you through this..

I told you like 2 years ago how to do this! LOL
If it's a higher model Linksys, it will even accept the MAC address of the device and you can skip the static IP.
You're on the right track. Don't bother with the port forwarding crap, just get it in the DMZ, which is easy to do. Even if you pick an ip address within the range used by DHCP, it will still work and it will get left alone.

set static IP for Mac of the Xbox 360,

Set DMZ for IP of the Xbox 360,

or Manually Forward Ports:
Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

Port 80 (TCP)

OK...this is getting rediculous... so I opened up all the ports i was told too, with the Xbox 360's ip being 172.168.1.110

and still get the moderate NAT opening... and no I don't understand all that other stuff you want me to do, lol...

next advice? lol

thx

i know it was a pain in the .... to get the Xbox 360 stable with a new router when I finally decided to put wireless in my house. (so I can access internet from laptop and ZuneHD.

anyway, I actually took my newer router off my Xbox and put my old router that had the "Xbox Live" logo on the box back on, as I was able to set a Static IP for the Xbox 360, and forward the ports easily on that router.

The 2 newer routers I had, would not allow me to set Static settings and If I was, I was only allowed to forward ports to one IP at a Time, so Multiple Xbox's caused a issue,

And if I use dynamic DHCP and set the IP for the 360 to open and forward ports, it would work until the 360 was turned off and another device on the network would take its IP address. (max Lease time was 1 day in the options of 1 router, and 7 days for another) then I'd have to go into the router and change the forwarded ports, reboot the 360 and re-negotiate with DHCP... and if i wanted to use both Xbox's One would have the ports open, while the other wouldnt.

So I hooked my old D-Link DI-604 back to my Modem, and went into the menu, set a Static IP for my Xbox 360 again and forwarded all the ports and my NAT is always open. Then I Added the IP for the 2nd 360 to the same port forwards/triggers (which are in the same menu on the DLink i think.)

And for the rest of the network, i hooked the wireless router to a PC/Laptop, connected to it and set it as a Access Point then connected it to the DLink router, so wireless devices and Systems that dont need specific ports open connect to the wireless router which is connected to the wired router. So the Xbox 360's keep the same IPs and I dont have to worry about the Ports. and since the router they are connected to is ahead of the Wireless in the network chain, the Xbox 360's get priority bandwidth.
