i know it was a pain in the .... to get the Xbox 360 stable with a new router when I finally decided to put wireless in my house. (so I can access internet from laptop and ZuneHD.
anyway, I actually took my newer router off my Xbox and put my old router that had the "Xbox Live" logo on the box back on, as I was able to set a Static IP for the Xbox 360, and forward the ports easily on that router.
The 2 newer routers I had, would not allow me to set Static settings and If I was, I was only allowed to forward ports to one IP at a Time, so Multiple Xbox's caused a issue,
And if I use dynamic DHCP and set the IP for the 360 to open and forward ports, it would work until the 360 was turned off and another device on the network would take its IP address. (max Lease time was 1 day in the options of 1 router, and 7 days for another) then I'd have to go into the router and change the forwarded ports, reboot the 360 and re-negotiate with DHCP... and if i wanted to use both Xbox's One would have the ports open, while the other wouldnt.
So I hooked my old D-Link DI-604 back to my Modem, and went into the menu, set a Static IP for my Xbox 360 again and forwarded all the ports and my NAT is always open. Then I Added the IP for the 2nd 360 to the same port forwards/triggers (which are in the same menu on the DLink i think.)
And for the rest of the network, i hooked the wireless router to a PC/Laptop, connected to it and set it as a Access Point then connected it to the DLink router, so wireless devices and Systems that dont need specific ports open connect to the wireless router which is connected to the wired router. So the Xbox 360's keep the same IPs and I dont have to worry about the Ports. and since the router they are connected to is ahead of the Wireless in the network chain, the Xbox 360's get priority bandwidth.
