Sorry Ade but it cannot be done.
We cannot take an eaw.exe like 1.2 or 1.26 or even 1.28E, and modify it.

What we have is a folder of source code files.

As you can see there are 543 items in it, most of which are needed.
We also have the software to read and modify those files, and then build a new eaw.exe from them.

For example Ralf has done some work on the bullet trajectories recently.
To do this he would open "bullet.c" and then modify the existing code, or add some new code.
Then he would compile a new exe.

i don't run with cannot jel...

as you say there are 543+ files which can be
edited within the exe..... how come no file provision for
multiskins which are now an integral part of 1.28+ and
will become more creative in the future...

have another think about this and see what you and ralf can
come up with...it's vital that some features of 1.28+ are
compatible with the successful 1.26 game version....as i read
recently.... a few folks are not using 1.28e .....

yep

These files are not in the eaw.exe. They are the ones which have evolved into the 1.28E code.
The compiler program reads them and converts the essential parts into what is loosely called "machine code" and builds the new "eaw.exe" from it.

In the evolution of he 1.28 series the first exe that used multiskins was 1.28c if my memory serves me well.
Apart from Skylark I am not aware of people who are using earlier versions because they have problems with 1.28E.
A few have graphic card problems and cannot run EAW properly at all because of screen tearing.

Hi Ade,

why dont you run EAW1.28e or EAW1.28??

One of both must run on your system.

I wish you a happy new year!

g'day ralf...

yep 'the western front' is 1.28e
and runs fine, apart from the items not
yet completed...hopefully this year!

but for old time sake i've made a 1.26
version of it which is very smooth and
well behaved...just needed to know if i
could get multiskins into it...

glückliches neues Jahr m8!
