Just thought you might want to know that the best writer of WW1 and WW2 aerial fiction is having his classic series - Goshawk trilogy about the RFC, and Hornet Squadron's books rereleased.
They are also all now available as ebooks right now, so it's a great way to support him (his old publisher stopped publishing his old novels years ago. They are excellent, both accurate and funny.

Derek Robinson's WW1 trilogy:

War Story (1987) Set in 1916 with Hornet Squadron flying FE2b's

Hornet's Sting (1999) Set in 1917 with Pups and Bristol F2b's

Goshawk Squadron (1971) Set in 1918 with Se5a's

These are probably the best fictional accounts of WW1 squadron life, and a very good read.
One should probably read them in historical order, rather than the order they were written.

Nice to hear they are being re-released, as "Hornet's Sting" is getting hard to find now.
I'll certainly buy the set to read them again!

Ahem, Bandy papers, Donald Jack
"Three Cheers for Me"
"That's Me in the Middle"
"It's Me Again"
et cetera

You will laugh your arse off, if you appreciate the dry sense of Canadian humour. Give them a try.
These books can also easily be found almost anywhere second hand, the first volume in press since the '60's and won the prestigious Stephen Leacock humour award.

tagTaken - Biggles was awesome when I was at primary school, but these books I mentioned are great for adults. I believe one of the WW2 ones, "Piece of Cake" was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. One final, definitive piece of evidence in support of Derek Robinson is that my sister actually recommended the book to me, not because she knew I was a WW2 plane freak but because she thought it was just a good book!!!

Thanks for the heads up Bandy. I hadn't seen these before, but the local library has them all, so it looks like
I'll have something new to read in the New Year!
