I have to admit, I'm a sucker for films with good dialogue. I can sit fascinated at an extremely long scene that only has two people talking if the conversation is worth listening to. I'd rather watch a quiet movie with intelligent conversation than an action packed, 3D effects, mindless special effects bonanza.

I think that's why I've always enjoyed some of the Tarantino movies. The scene in Kill Bill Vol. 2 when Uma Thurman and Carradine are having the conversation right before she puts the smackdown on him.. Great stuff. The beginning of Reservoir Dogs when they are in the diner..

It is also why despite the other atrocities in Apocalypse Now Redux (the Playboy bunnies and the stupid added scenes with Kilgore), the Plantation scene is great cinema for me.

What is your favorite dialogue scene in a movie?

The entire 12 Angry Men is based on dialogue, and that is one of the greatest movies of all time smile

Another scene that comes to mind is the restaurant scene in Heat, with Pacino and De Niro. Classic stuff!

Not a film, but this is about as taut as dialogue gets.

The beginning of Inglorious Basterds, where the Jew hunter and the French farmer talk, is fantastic. Actually that German actor - forgot his name - totally outshines all the big name actors of the film!

1. "Amadeus" - The scene near the end of the film where Salieri is helping Mozart finish his "Requiem". Just absolutely brilliant.

2. "Glory" - The scene before the assault on Ft. Wagner at the campfire where different members of the 54th Mass give their pep talk to the regiment.

3. "Heat" - The scene at the restaurant where DeNiro and Pacino meet for the first time.
