I just bought the sim thru Steam and the version is 1.1.0.9 and would like to install the latest version. Steam doesn't show any signs of wanting to update automatically. Does the update that is linked on this forum work with the Steam download?

So you are saying delete what I have installed from Steam and download and install from DCS? Will this require me to use one of my reinstalls that are limited by Steam?

Yes, uninstall and delete the DCS folder in your Steam directory. Then download the 1.1.1.1 full installer (recommend download via torrent), install, and then copy-paste your CD key from Steam. It may or may not use one of your activations, but not to worry as ED is quite reasonable with the number of activations allowed; IIRC you are given 10, so nothing to worry about.

Enjoy!

No need for that, as we have a perfectly good workaround. You can always do this, and thus be patched to the latest version as soon as you finish downloading the new files, no need to wait for somebody at Steam to update the game for you.

I'm enjoying the Steam sale as it is. Picked up Skyrim due to the sale; I wouldn't have picked it up otherwise.

While downloading via torrent from Frostwire I got a message that Frostwire had detected a corruption in the file and asked me if I wanted to continue. I clicked yes. Should I start over?

No idea about that, sorry. I use uTorrent for my downloading. It has an option called Force Re-Check which basically checks the files I've downloaded and resumes from there. Never had a corrupted download from uTorrent.

I have started the download on uTorrent 3.1 and it is showing between 1 week and 2 weeks for download. LOL! I am on a DSL connection. Must have something to do with increased internet traffic over the holidays. My wife and son have both commented on the slow internet (and not too kindly either). I will let it go tonight and see the progress in the morn. I may just pause it where it is and resume later.
Thanks for all the input.

Lol, obviously the estimate will depend on the current speed. If that speed shoots up, the estimate will go down and vice versa, so unless that speed you have is your average daily speed, I don't think you have to worry about anything.

I'm on a DSL connection at home with a 2-3meg connection. My downloads can go up to 400kbps but my average is about 250-300ish. A full install takes average 4-6 hours, but I have other obligations in life like work, family, personal hygiene, etc. so this "delay" isn't too big a deal. Usually, I have the full install downloaded by Day 2 after release, and it'll take me a few more days to get round to installing it and tweaking it to my preferred settings.
