We are trying to pull off a very difficult balancing act with developing a new game and supporting an old one at the same time. Pretty much no one does that. Most large developers simply release games, support them for a month at the most, and then switch to new paid content regardless of the state of the game. We are however trying not only to patch up major issues, we're working on improving things that generally work - and we're doing that for free seven months after release. This is complete BS. Most large developers support games for just a month after release? Arma 2 is still giving patches to their original game even though they have sequels released and working. 2+ years and still patching. There are many flight sims that have been supported for longer than 7 months without asking for more cash. They are doing this for "free" as he states? I'm not sure about anyone else, but I paid $50 for my copy and I was assured by the community posts that they would fix it. There are too many things wrong with this sim to expect people to just shrug and say "oh well, here some more money". BOM will most likely fail as far a succesful sales go, people just don't like feeling like they got ripped off. Now the same "faithful" folks that assured everyone that they would fix this title are going to backtrack and say stuff like "it's only $50, cmon"

I can't think of any flight sims off the top of my head that continued support for free after a few months of release. Il-2 series sort of did, but also had several pay for add-ons. BoB2 doesn't count, because it's a mod of a game another company released and even OFF has paid for phases.
That being said, though, BoM will have to be something amazing to get me to purchase it. I purchased CoD on the presumption that a lot of things had been fixed from the first Il-2 series, mostly being everything to do with the most fundamental part of any flight sim - flight, and achieving it.
Instead, there is some half-assed flight model with the same awful ground modelling reminiscent of the Il2 series. The most basic requirement of a flight sim, and it was pooch screwed. Without that aspect of it being modeled properly, I will stick with RoF and the newly purchased DCS A-10C (I can't even figure out how to fire the GAU yet, but the FM is amazing).

"Yes, it’s one of the things the new FM programmer will work on."
I thought it has been worked on? This is a flight sim, the FM should of been working more or less for the release and then the first thing fixed...Unfecking believable.

Bish, its just a figure of speech in Blighty and not to be taken too seriously... That's all and I'll leave it there. Merry Christmas to you and yours too Bish. Admin Edit - Comment not necessary. Debate the sim and don't go personal.

But seeing as it's the season of goodwill I will simply uninstall this abortion of a game and never buy a 1c product again.
Simple.

Now the same "faithful" folks that assured everyone that they would fix this title are going to backtrack and say stuff like "it's only $50, cmon" WW2 aircombat sims like the CFS series, Rowans BOB, EAW?, Wings of Prey, all dropped support almost immediately and relied on the mod community to continue the work. Maddox Games continued support all their products for the last ten years, and stated they will support COD modders by supplying the tools they need. Luthier... "And to make sure to drive my main point across. We are still working on improving CoD. No one's abandoned it. There will be patches. My answers about things in the sequel were meant for those specific features. Please don't try to read between the lines!" Unfortunately their business model probably called for them to release a sequel every one or two years to keep the development solvent. So the incomplete release of the first installment has required them to work on both, but luckily much of what they are working on will apply to both series, except for aircraft, cockpits, and maps.

Chivas, how do we even know if the sequel will have fixed these issues? they have had 8 months so far and have fixed nothing of note.
And where has this "something fantastic but i cant tell you" gone? remember that? the same place the 2d clouds, 50% performance, sli fixed, AI reworked, radio commands, FM looked at, DM looked at have gone im betting.
Oleg and his IL2 team was one thing, Luthier and his are not the same Chivas.

Well I wouldn't say immediately, but guess what, those sims where released in better shape than CLOD and didn't to be rebuilt. Flight sims have usually had support from the devs for about a year. Falcon 4.0: last patch 1 year 2 months after launch Janes F-15: D3D patch came out 4.5 years after launch Flight Simulator series: Service packs released 2 years after launch Rise of Flight: Original owners ger all the benefits of new career and fixes at no extra cost. There are many more sims that didn't drop support after "a month" as Luthier says. Whatever Luthier, I guess you have to think that way to feel good about it. I just hate how he acts like he is doing us all a favor by partially supporting this abortion, 7 months after it was rushed out about a year too early. 1C definitley pushed some folks into the "never purchase again" category with this move.
