Just to be completely clear; 'up to but not including the v1.01 patch.'

Do NOT install any patches, mods, or updates before applying the One Click Updater. You install the sim from the CD, then apply the One Click Updater . That's all. You are done. Any other steps or process will certainly result in an installation failure.

VFA-41 pilots use TSHv3.06 with the One Click Updater in both Win7/32 and Win7/64.

Hedgehog, I'll try this when I get home this evening. I noticed the installer only installs on "C" drive. Can I change that? I prefer to put my simulations on a seperate HDD, "A" not on "C", since it contains the OS. I am not totally opposed to putting it on "C" if I must, but prefer "A" if possible. Also, noticed that one step installs shortcuts for the various tools contained within, thanks for adding that. It's a welcome addition to how much thought was put into the installer.

Rudel and Hedgehog, thanks for stayign with me thus far. I finally got it to work, marginally. I have to use DXTweaker and can get it to fly, but when I complete the mission and get the mission end prompt, I select yes and get a black screen.

Also, am unable to get my rudder pedals and throttle to work just yet, so tweaking with those settings. If you have any suggestions, will gladly take those as well.

This guy had that issue.  He turned off Aero to fix his issue.

And your joystick issue..

The rudder in the sim is not modeled correctly, but have you tried using it taxi-ing around to make sure it does work?

Update.....got it to work, finally. I have to use DXTweaker and ensure no compatability modes are enabled. Also ran NCAPE scenery, as instructed by Hedgehog before accessing any part of the game. I also tried to disable the intro movies and credits, bad juju! It didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to run the game at all. So, uninstall and reinstall, leaving the intros alone. Afterall, whats a bunch of colored blocks mean when the end result is playability.

Next two problems to work on are getting the throttle to work. It recognizes all three, joystick, throttle and pedals in the TSH utility, but only if I cycle through USB 1,2 and 3. I checked force USB in game and still only get joystick.

Second problem is quitting a mission I get a black screen. When I hit CTL-ALT-DEL to end task, I see the AAR screen, but am unable to get to it without the game crashing anyway. So, will have to play with that one a bit more.

Man, what a pain in the arse...reminds of the heady days of DOS and all of it's manipulation to get a particular game to work.

DirectX 9 tab: Uncheck Force Loading & Direct3DX 9

DirectX 8 tab: Uncheck Direct3D 8

Option tab: Everything Unchecked

Modules to load: Present Charger Only......

Now you need to actually click on it; Module Properties should appear:

Multisampling Options: -Type: Application

Display Options: -V-Sync: Off, -Swap: Application

Thanks Rudel. Works like a charm now. Can I modify the in game resolution using the TSH resolution modifier? Have you or Hedgehog seen any bad results from using that?

Just hoping Joe comes up on the net with the discussion about the Warthog set up, not really sure what he's talking about to configure joystick and throttle.
