Any word on the new beta drivers 290.53 and their impact on RoF?

If not, what's the latest stable driver for RoF?

I'm running the 266.58 driver, and I keep getting black screens and a "driver recovery". So I'm assuming my drivers need replacing (hopefully it's that, and not the card itself). I just want to upgrade to a stable driver for RoF (not that I fly much anymore, but just in case).

Thanks!

I still have the same drivers (197.45) for my nvidia gtx 280 that came out back in 2009 or so.
Those drivers work the best (for me) with il2 sturmovik.

I found that changing drivers for these graphics cards usually creates more problems then they solve.

If you have drivers that work well then leave them alone usually is the best bet.

You can go to their site and read up on just what the new drivers were created for and if they don't directly solve some problem for what your are doing....Then leave them be is the best advice I can offer on this subject.

If you are having driver problems the nvidia site has excellent advice on how to uninstall completely the old drivers and then use a driver
cleaner to get the left over pieces and then reinstall the new drivers.

If you don't do a clean uninstall properly you may just opening yourself up for more on-going issues..

read up on it...
good luck.

Thanks PapaG.

Is anyone using the 290 series drivers, or a more recent driver than the 266.58?

Thanks Natty and Biggles!

I loaded the 290.53 beta drivers and all is running quite well. I dont see any of the ground texture problems that others have written about.

I hope that this fixes my blackscreen/rebooting problem from the "driver recovery" issue that I've been facing.
At least I have a decent driver to test this out. (fortunately I bought an EVGA card, which has a life time warranty, so if I get another reboot/blackscreen, I'll RMA it.)

I would like to get a more powerful graphics card, but it seems the jump from the 460 to a 560 isnt that much, as far as benefit goes, and the jump to a 580 doesnt warrant the $500 price tag.

Thanks again for the input (you too PapaG)! I'm off to support 777 and further AI tweaks (and as a bonus I get some cool new streamers!)

I tried them and got all kinds of graphical artifacting. I switched back to 290.36 and the problems went away. Haven't gone back but it could have been a bad install. Anyways the 290.36 work ok for me, but I don't use Shaders on Maximum. 777 Recommends a much earlier version of driver for stability and functionality. Can't recall the exact version. Anyone help him out here with that?

Same for me, though I have a much older GTX285. No problems for me with those drivers on that hardware.

I reloaded 290.53 beta and now it seems to be ok. Couple crashes in Battlefield 3 but since I jjst got that for Christmas today I couldn't say what the actual cause was. No more artifacts though. Maybe a bad install the first time I tried it?

So does it? I get that with 285.62.
