Yes, thanks to the Steam Sale corollary to Murphy's Law: any game you buy, especially preorder, will be on sale for 50% or less of that price on Steam within less than 6 months of you buying it. If you hold off, the sale will not come or will be some lame 10% sale.

A game comes out and you preorder it, it drops 50% in 3 months. You wait a year to buy a game and see the price finally drops 20% (after staying stable all that time), it will drop AGAIN to 50% off within a month or two of your purchase.

Needless to say, I preordered F1 2011. smile

Too true Jedi, that is the case with games and computer hardware in general, basically like many things in life you just have to decide at the time if something is worth it to you or not, if not at the current market price then just wait and it will eventually come down Steam and all the digital publishing seems to have accelerated it even more the last few years.

Personally I've never felt the angst people feel (and seem to share alot) when a game goes on sale and they paid full price months ago (if I wanted a game enough to preorder, then those extra months of enjoyment are worth it to me) or people who threadcrap new release discussions saying not worth it since there will be a GOY edition with all DLC at some point... Both are true I just don't get the angst, no one makes us buy this stuff and those that are patient surely will get it cheaper, I just wish I was patient more often :-)

Thanks for the heads up on this sale, bought F1-2010 preorder full price but was waiting on sale for F1-2011 due to not trusting them for the lack of patching on first one sounds like that worry hasn't been a problem this time.

You really have to stay on top of Steam, checking in regularly to catch some nice sales.
I picked up LA Noire and Dirt3 at great prices and this is the 2nd time I have seen F1 2011 on sale.

My usual M.O. on games for the most part is to wait for the magic 19.99 price point but for the racing games I usually
jump in early because if you wait too long you might get a lot of empty servers as people have moved to the next version.

Jedi be sure to start a thread about any games you pre-order so we know to wait Smile2

How is this title for "offline" racing? The AI any good?

50% off now that the season is well over?
They really need to try releasing this earlier in the F1 season IMO.
Just me, but I'm not going to accumulate versions of this title for historical purposes.

I'm interested in this too. I got my fingers burnt by F1 2010 at full price. Is 2011 any better, are the show stoppers gone? (I could never deal with the poor frame rates if you enabled the wet weather textures, pit bugs, and fabricated rather than simulated AI lap times.)

Yeah Half off turns out to be $24.99 still and the steam forums mention some bugs still, can anyone confirm it is a solid release and worth it at that price for those of us who still have F1 2010?

Some games that are 50% off are now the same price for Australian buyers as they would be for US buyers all year round (E.g. MW3/BatmanAC are $100 in the AU store). How do they get away with that?

Well I went ahead and bought it last night. They had it bundled with Dirt3 for 49.99. Hope I'm not disappointed with both. Just looking for some offline action occasionally. Probably should have just waited for GTR3 but I'm not sure I have that much patience!
