OK... time to brag about my new PC system... custom built by no other then the King of SimHQ, Doug... cost under 1500 bucks including shipping... incredible system, fast as hell, and very well made and put together... other companies can learn and thing or two about custom PC builders, their love and attention to detail. Thanks a mil Doug... it's a FANTASTIC system. Not only does every game i have run on maxed settings, not one game dropped below 50 fps, most never dipped below 80... and the best part... when I video record with FRAPS, I can't even tell... no drop in performance what so ever, unlike my old system that was pretty good, but because a slide show when I tried to record video. All the games I have installed and playing... minus BlackShark 2... my activation code didn't work... SWEET... and thanks again Doug... you the man. System SpecificationsIntel i7-2600K processor Cooler Master Hyper N 520 CPU fan Asus ROG Maximus IV Gene-Z mobo 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 DDR3 RAM Asus ENGTX570 DCII GeForce 570 video card Western Digital 640GB 7200 w/32MB cache HDD Corsair TX750M power supply Corsair Carbide Series 500R black case LG CD/DVD optical drive Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lots of fans, but it is amazingly still quiet.3 XIGMATEK 120mm case fans 2 120MM case fans 2 fans on the power supply 2 fans on the video card 2 fans on the CPU cooler 1 200 CM big assed side fan screens, all on max/ultra settings: BTW: The purpose of the screens is to show detail and distance... smooth as butter. The price goal was under 1500... well met.

Very awesome Magnum and good job on the build Guod, great CPU/MB/PSU/GPU combo.
Also just in case you didn't know that 2600k CPU has lots of headroom for overclocking in the future, I dropped a similar 2500k and Asus P8Z68-V motherboard in my case this week and was able to overclock it to 4.8ghz stable on air cooler with just a few simple BIOS tweaks and a small voltage offset, there's even headroom to go into the 5ghz territory someday with more volts and heat if I want to try, but for now a simple 4.8ghz with minimal volts (+.040v) and heat (29c idle, 73c full load) is amazing.
Great intel chip and Asus motherboards these days, that will do you well for the next couple of years at least.

Cool, what did you do with your old dinosaur Dell XPS730X ? I am in the process of upgrading mine. Decided to put 12gb of Crucial Ballistix 1600ddr3 and am now searching for newer GPU with no less then 2gb up 4gb. I love the cases the old Dell XPS series had. Have 2 of them. One from my dead XPS 700. Some seriously heavy duty cases. Need to tear out that old BTX mobo from it and mod it.

Grats on the new rig. I'll probably be looking to upgrade to a 2500k or 2600k sometime next year. Is there a specific advantage of the 2600k over the 2500k? They both run cool and overclock easily. What do you get for the extra money of a 2600k Anyone know?

The main diff is that the 2600k does hyperthreading, which is not really useful for gaming, but useful if you do video editing or something like that.

ENB? Actually i try to limit the uses of mods in most games... i still use them but not many, always seems to create some idiot problem here or there. lol

ENB introduces HDR lighting effects into games and really makes a great visual difference. It's a matter of simply dropping the files into the game directory (they don't overwrite any data) and activating the mod ingame ->voilà, greatly improved visuals. I've posted a couple of screenies in this thread some time ago: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3083677/A_skirmish_in_the_80s.html#Post3083677

WW2 Tank Battles T34 vs Tiger.... not really a good game because support stopped right after release... with a bunch of issues... but still for some one tank action, (because the other tanks do what they want which is usually un-tactical and die, lol) it is alot of fun, and simple.

none of these screens or video...are edited... would defeat the purpose of showing off the machine.

well finally found a game that my new system can't handle... it's still not to bad, just an occasional pause... but also i noticed some seriously weird graphic issues... anyone know of these issues in IL2: CoD? (I just re-installed it this AM, after it was terrible on my old system on release.) Well hell.. those graphic problems ain't visible in my screenshots, but in game their there... all the decals seem to be neon lights, changing color and all. oh well.

That's the same specs I have roughly (2600k/570) and my CloD doesn't look like that, although granted I've not run it in some time now. What drivers are you running? You should have the latest WHQL nvidia drivers. Also double check your in-game settings. The Jedi Master

Yes, but there were no gaffers/best boys/grips around, so union rules prevented anyone else from handling it.
